Truman's Smokehouse and Kitchen — Restaurant in Fuquay-Varina

I went for a quick lunch option since it wasn’t crowded and that quick lunch became into a 30 min wait for a sandwich. Also if you are a coffee drinker I do not recommend this place, idk what they use in their lattes since I doubt the use real brewed espresso shots since it was the most watered down latte I ever tried. I asked for the SF mocha thinking it would be less sweet, turns out I got the most sweet and watered down latte ever, i couldn’t even taste the coffee in it. I wondered if it was so sweet because I asked oatmilk substitute instead and I respectfully asked if the oatmilk was sweetened or unsweetened and the barista got overly agressive and started cursing at the manager saying “who am I supposed to know that? You go read it yourself” to the manager!!!! I’m sorry but this made me feel SUPER uncomfortable since I was just genuenly asking for a redo and she got into a terrible mood for making a really bad latte LOL I could tell her behavior is not news to the other coworkers seems they didn’t seem surprised by her immature behavior. After that another girl got me a latte in less than a minute (there’s no way they brewed a espresso shot that fast so my guess it’s they don’t use actual espresso on their lattes) and tasted the same… I am just surprised my sugar free mocha was SWEETER than a regular mocha my friend got??? After getting my food I could feel the barista just staring at me with an upset look on her face like if I did something to her, she had a whole attitude the rest of my stay, later on a guy came in and they both did a slight PDA demonstration while I was trying to eat my food. I’m sorry but the service, at least the one I got this last time was REALLY BAD. I have worked in costumer services for years and I KNOW staff can behave better, or at least not curse their manager in front of costumers. Either way, I’m sorry if I got too personal but it...

We were impressed as soon as we pulled in the parking lot and saw the outdoor seating options. When we walked in we were greeted by the barista who immediately made us feel welcomed, explaining where the food menu was vs the drink menu. We ordered and walked around the space and was surprised about how big it felt, there’s a handful of tables as you walk in, a bar top space just past the ordering counter, a lounge space past the bar and then of course the outdoor seating as previously mentioned. Having a lot of space like that is important to me as it can sometimes feel awkward when restaurants are too small, this instead felt like the perfect size to spread out but still keep it cute and cozy. The decor is incredible, it has a rustic barn wood industrial style. We pointed out all the lighting as it’s something we’d love to have in our own house. The food was excellent. I had the bacon potato bowl. Not going to lie, when it came out, my first thought was that it looked like a small portion. However, when you start eating, you realize just how much food is packed into the bowl. There was a ton of bacon, eggs, potatoes, cheese, peppers and onion. I also ordered a side of sausage gravy, which was super yummy. It was more than enough food for one person and I left feeling completely satisfied and full. The owner was actually there cooking in the kitchen as well as coming up to the front area to ask everyone how their meal was. I just thought that was super classy, I mean it was a Saturday morning and the owner was there running the show and still taking the time to check in with her customers. When you combine the service, food, and environment, all three together is exactly why I’ll be a regular from here on out. This is exactly what we needed in Fuquay and I’m pumped we live so close to this...

Update: I am astonished at the owner’s “response”. I cannot believe she is willing to lie about the situation just to make it seem like I was at fault. At no time did I ask for a specific time. I simply wanted to double check that she did say the wait time was going to be an hour so that I could make a decision. Tracy, if you did review the video then you know the truth and I will leave it at that. As I said before, the girl was extremely rude and there is no justification for her behavior. With that being said I will never be back and will be sure to warn others to stay away from this place!!!

I have been a regular at this place for years but today I had a horrible experience with one of their employees. I tried to make a food order and she told me it was gonna be an hour wait so I said okay I will order and come back for it. She responded with “just to let you know you can do that but we are just going to put it over there (bar area) when it’s ready and if it’s cold when you get here then that’s just how it’s going to be”. I was shocked at her response! I said “okay but you did say it’s an hour wait right?” And she responded rudely “ that’s just an estimate, I can’t tell you for sure”.

I had to walk out of there before I said anything out character infront of my daughter whom I have been taking there for years!

I suggest that young lady gets proper customer service training because that is certainly not the way you talk to someone who is trying to support...
