this art store use to be good at one point, but 3 weeks after magnum wood has close they have become worse than magnum wood in there pricing; i have been buying from soma since they open and im very disappointed in the fact that they have one price on there items but when you pay it is a very different price, and if i was you i would get the items at another store that is not over pricing everything they sell , is like they think we don’t know how much this things are worth, i have been buying art supplies for over 4 years now, about ones a month so yeah i know about pricing and i know that most of this prices are not going up (like any store prices go up but they do not go up 3 to 4 times as much of what they actually cost trace paper was mark by soma to be at 6 dollars they dint take there pricing off, 2 week later i need it more trace paper and it was now 13...... i got it from them and as i was in the store i say man this is really expansive to my self.... one of the owners hear me saying this and "mention we have the best prices try finding it in another store" lol broo no you dont.. ps dont worry about replying to me you lave lost my business and the business of...
Read moreThey pretty much put students between a rock and a hard place. on the one hand they are the one of the few dedicated art stores that sells architecture supplies and i like the idea of supporting local businesses as a local myself. but that sympathy goes out the window when i see the enormous price mark ups they make on their stuff. Its honestly ridiculous. I recall buying a sheet of plywood from them for $22 and across town at another store they sell that exact same sheet for $4. on some items they are slightly pricey but on others its just too much. I know they are a business and are not here to give handouts but i dont know how they can justify some of the ridiculous prices they have when the same items can be bought much cheaper elsewhere. In the end however they sometimes are the only store that has what i need which is the only reason why i go there anymore otherwise i try to buy my supplies from other stores or online. They have us students beat and...
Read moreI love love love love love love this little place!!!!! And I hate to tell the last person that wrote a review but a $7 markup from an online price is not a big upsell honey. I guarantee you this little mom-and-pop place is making less on each item then the hungry corporate monster that you fed with your negative review. You know the last review was so sad to me because this quaint unique small business is exactly what a true artist would love to visit. Also a real artist would realize the power of social media and hesitate to put such a negative yet useless review on the world wide web when this small business is already in competition with corporations that can swallow them whole with the prices that they pay versus the prices that someone like this would pay from vendors. If we don't take care of our small businesses you will soon see the damage that...
