The food is a hit and miss. The Cuban sandwiches are delicious, warm, and crispy. Howerever the empanadas and quesitos taste as if they were plucked from the freezer section from Sam’s Club and then left on the hot road for a few days. They are a strange mix of both peeling dryness and freezer burned. You either have to wait 20+ mins with a crowd of drunk teenagers for your Cuban or you can get your reheated questio right away.

The service? I suppose Flaco’s doesn’t have a dress code for their employees. The cashier was wearing a hat with a vulgar phrase on it and seemed dismissive of me when I asked what he recommended. The employees seem like they just got back from the club as they seem to be working and taking orders drunk. They don’t seem to care for the food either. All of the employees are constantly switching between taking orders and making food, which doesn’t seem that sanitary. One employee was taking cash and touching the screen of the register, then heading to the food prep area to make a sandwich- without washing his hands or changing his gloves first. Yuck.

I miss the old layout of Flacos with the bench seating and the IPads for quicker ordering. The environment is now sterile, with a few metal seats. What if you want to sit outside? Well prepare to be harassed or possibly get in a fight because there tends to be large groups of rowdy drunk men that group outside often catcalling young college girls while they walk by. Is the frozen questio worth it?...

It's always a delight to discover eateries that offer authentic and well-executed cuisine. Fact's Cuban Bakery in Gainesville, Florida, is one such place that brings the vibrant flavors of Cuba to the heart of the city.

Stepping into Fact's Cuban Bakery, you're immediately enveloped by the aroma of freshly baked goods. The bakery boasts an impressive array of Cuban pastries, each meticulously prepared and showcasing traditional techniques. The 'Pastelitos de Guayaba' (guava pastries) are particularly noteworthy - a perfect blend of flaky pastry and sweet guava filling that is absolutely unforgettable.

Fact's also excels in its savory offerings. The 'Cuban Sandwich', a local favorite, is a delightful symphony of flavors with its perfectly pressed bread, succulent pork, and tangy pickles. It's a testament to Fact's commitment to providing a true Cuban culinary experience. The atmosphere of the bakery is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a Havana street café. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to guide you through the menu and share stories about the food and Cuban culture.

Overall, Fact's Cuban Bakery is a gastronomic gem in Gainesville, Florida. It delivers an authentic and delicious taste of Cuba that transcends the ordinary. For anyone seeking a Cuban culinary journey, this bakery should not be missed.

I don't know how old their appliances are that they are using to make the arepas but mine had big chunks of black plastic of every single one of my arepa. As any logical person would, I assumed it was just charged from the press that cooked our arepas but as soon as I bit into it, I knew it was not edible. That is hazardous and when I tried to call their restaurant I got no response and got sent to voicemail. I hope after they see this, they will listen to it and respond. I loved eating at this establishment. I was the first one in there this morning (03/05/2022) coming from Orlando and they seemed very unprepared and honestly, surprised that I was even in there to begin with. No queso or avocado garlic was available. The had JUST OPENED. I would hope they would get there early to have everything prepared needed for the day. Am I wrong or no? I even asked to use the bathroom and they said no because the water was going to be shut off for ONE HOUR and they "needed to save their last flush." Like seriously? That is quoted from the manager (I suppose) with the piercings and no mask while handling food. No one had masks in there (not surprised for the area) but still. I was just taken aback by the service honestly. It's like they didn't expect people to walk in at 11 to get food for lunch and I was crazy for even being in there. Also the rice was stale as hell and my bowl was just subpar overall. Just disappointing. I...

Has Flaco’s quality gone down over the years, or was I just a drunk college student when I used to like it? We were driving up north and craving Cuban food, so we decided to quickly stop at Flaco’s for a bite. The parking was horrendous, but that’s expected of downtown Gainesville. Just as bad as the parking was their selection and quality of bakery snacks. The guava and cheese pastelitos were horrible; stale dough and barely any cheese. After my first bite I even thought they gave me the guava-only pastelitos… you couldn’t taste the cheese. The empanadas were dry, and the dough was terrible as well, but the flavor of the filling saved them. The quesitos were the best of the bunch. If you’re expecting South Florida quality Cuban dulces… you’re in for a treat. Maybe I just had too high of expectations?

I discovered Flaco’s back in 2020. My wife and I were on a long weekend getaway, I saw they had good reviews, and the weather was perfect (late October). We checked this place out and I experienced the most delicious empanadas I’ve ever had. We drove 45 minutes out of our way to stop there today because we knew we wouldn’t be this close any other time. Their beef empanada is delicious. The pastry is lite, airy, and flakey. The filling is perfectly seasoned. For dessert, make sure you grab two or twelve of the guava and cheese empanadas. They’re amazing and the two fillings are perfectly balanced. It may sound weird but it works. The only thing that will disappoint you is when all your empanadas are gone. So make sure you take several.
