Relish Downtown — Restaurant in Gainesville

My husband and I had a craving for a burger and fries after work so we ordered from the app. I ordered a single well-done cheeseburger with Swiss cheese, and my husband got a well-done double cheeseburger also with Swiss plus large fries on the side. The order cost about $30 with a tip, and it was ready in about 20 minutes which was enough time to get parking. I used my phone number for the order, so I was automatically texted when the order was ready for pickup - pretty convenient for people that lose track of time.

Parking during the dinnertime crowd is a bit rough, but we were lucky and able to find a spot right in front of Dragonfly Sushi, which is 1 storefront away from Relish. Street parking is metered until 5 pm, and there are also free 15-minute spots for food pickup.

The food was excellent. 1000% satisfied the burger craving. The only very minor complaint that we had was that the "large" fries were underwhelming (it was about 1 cup of fries?) and could probably be considered closer to a small. However, what the fries order lacked in quantity, it made up for in quality - crispy on the outside and soft / cooked on the inside. Other than the size of the fries order, everything else was perfect and tasted delicious.

They shouldn’t offer veggie burgers. I realize it’s silly going to burger place when you’re vegan/vegetarian but hey, it’s nice to have options. When I got there, they assured me all of the ingredients they had were vegan. However, they didn’t change utensils or gloves before preparing my order. And better yet, the grill was not cleaned, and there is no separate area for veggie burgers. My patty was touching a beef one. If you’re going to offer vegan options, cross contamination is something that goes along with that promise, and I specifically sought out this restaurant because of the website advertising “veggie” patties. I just think this company needs to be a little more aware of what a claim like that means. Otherwise, just stick to beef, which is fine. So disappointed. I ate here religiously prior to Covid; one our weekly spots for work lunch. Today, we ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 of which were made incorrectly. I called to make them aware so that we could have the sandwiches remade. Taylor, who is an employee there, tells me that she made the sandwiches herself so they couldn’t be wrong. She continued to challenge me about the sandwiches on the phone and when I went back in, she continued to justify what she did and was SO RUDE!! She then says I can call her manager and he’ll tell me the same thing. Seriously?! She finally agreed to refund 1 sandwich, which wasn’t either of the two that were incorrect. Never. Again.
