Incredible buffet of comfort food. Tasted like an old fashioned Sunday supper at Grandma's....if grandma had been cooking for weeks!
Numerous kinds of barbecued meats. (I loved both kinds of sausage and hubby raved about the brisket and ribs. Neither of us tried both kinds of chicken.)
Fried okra and onion rings, fried yellow squash, fried catfish, fried shrimp(only thing I didn't care for), baked chicken, and more .
The green beans had been cooked with tons of bacon and onions. They had sliced carrots cooked with onions and celery, enchiladas that were actually quite good, yeast rolls and cinnamon rolls, green pea salad that was actually good too, and a delicious potato salad.
They had an iceberg salad mix, grape tomatoes, dressings, cole slaw, a Great green tomato relish, dill pickle spears , and pepperochini(sp) peppers.
Desserts included soft serve ice cream and numerous cobblers, and I am told - a wonderful bread pudding.
I'm sure I forgot something.....it was hard to remember.. .and try.. It all!
This was a weekday lunch buffet. Seniors are offered all this for $7.95 plus tax ( Beverage is at additional cost). Don't think It was much more for those under 55. We ate here last time we were in town, and will visit again before we leave...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI work for a nonprofit organization that supports individuals with disabilities such as autism. As part of our program, we take weekly outings, often to restaurants. Since we operate on a limited budget for each client, we try to choose places that are both enjoyable and affordable. I brought 13 of my clients here, many of whom were very excited to try it for the first time since I had enjoyed it in the past. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing. The food was bland and cold, and the service was minimalāwe were served water and a few drinks, but often had to get our own. What was most upsetting was the unexpected gratuity of $40 automatically added to our bill. There was no sign or notice about this policy, and Iāve never been charged a gratuity at other buffets, whether Chinese or otherwise. When I asked the waitress, she simply said it was restaurant policy for groups of eight or more and brushed off my concern. I try to use these outings to teach my clients about tipping and restaurant etiquette, but this was not an appropriate example. Considering the poor food and lackluster service, the added charge felt unreasonable. For the sake of maintaining a positive experience for my clients, I paid the bill without argument, but we will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStayed in Gainsville for a concert at Windstar. Saw good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. My husband is a pretty harsh critic and I am even harsher, but we couldn't find anything to complain about here. The ribs and catfish were better than at any bbq or catfish place I've been. Ribs were large, meaty, tender, with a great smokey flavor. Bbq sauce was different than I'm used to, but the ribs were great without it. The catfish was awesome. Fresh, lightly battered, crisp and hot. Lots of sides to choose from and they were good. Even though I was stuffed, the very nice and friendly wait staff talked me into trying the strawberry cobbler with ice cream (he even made it for me) and it was delicious. I thought since it was all you could eat ribs and catfish that it was going to be expensive, but with one senior discount, it was $22.00. I was shocked. Great price for a great buffet. Already planning to eat their again for our...
