Taqueria El Vaquero — Restaurant in Gainesville

I go here every time I crave real Mexican food. I get the Caldo De Res soup and it is absolutely the best soup I've had in a long time! It is full to the brim with fresh corn, carrots, cabbage, zucchini and a large piece of beef. Comes with a plate of cilantro, limes and onions, a bowl of rice and 4 small tortilla shells. You can choose corn or flour. It's so much food that you can't even eat it all! It's a little spendy, but worth it! I'll definitely go back again. Edit: I usually enjoy going here for the food, but tonight; July 9, 2023 was different. The waitress was not very friendly or inviting. It took quite sometime to get my soup. 50$ on 5 of the smallest tacos I've ever seen, a bean burrito, cheese quesadilla with rice and beans, jamaica and coke. The lingua tacos still had taste buds visible and did not taste like someone who knows how to cook made them, the quesadilla cheese was not even close to being completely melted, and the jamaica was not real. Upon asking what was in it, the server turns around and ignores the question. Will not be coming back. The tacos didn't even come with rice and beans, just 1 plate of 3 and another of 2, completely blank expressions. I would never operate a business that sends out plates like these. Legitimatly genuine and amazing. I spent my first 33 years living in Houston. This reminds me of being at home eating local street-food. The gorditas our little fried nuggets of amazing. It's only a serving of three but it's worth it. The street tacos are great. Honestly they make the best french fries in all of Gainesville. Hands down the best.
