New Asian Buffet — Restaurant in Gainesville

We checked out New Asian Buffet in Gainesville for the first time and had a pretty great experience overall. We hadn’t been before, but several staff members mentioned it’s under new management as of a couple months ago, and you can definitely tell they’re trying to keep things fresh and organized.

The place was really clean, and I noticed someone constantly going around the buffet, making sure everything was stocked and looking good. He had an earpiece in and was giving live orders to the kitchen over the PA—super efficient and kind of cool to see. I never had any issues finding serving utensils, and there weren’t any food spills or messes at the buffet area, which is rare. They were on top of it!

Food-wise, I really liked the cream cheese wontons. There were a lot of choices overall, and the staff was really friendly. I do wish there had been more seafood options—especially squid or calamari, even on the hibachi/Mongolian grill side—but that’s more of a personal preference.

One time when I was little our neighbor was an old Asian woman she invited us over to eat one night and she made tamales enchiladas and I was so confused because I was now under the impression that that was what Asian food was so every time somebody said hey let's go eat some Asian food I would say I wasn't hungry but little did I know I thought it was Mexican food and then I grew up older and my mom bought a rabbit and the rabbit was really really cute except for it used to bite and what time it better so hard that my mother said we had to get rid of it so I was a little confused and gave the dog away but I didn't get in trouble because he was a mean dog so we kept the rabbit and then one day when I was going to school the rabbit got out of its pen and last thing on you it was last seen in Tulsa Oklahoma somewhere I think. I guess tomorrow the story is never Park your motorcycle in a no-parking zone unless you go to eat Asian food and if you go to eat Asian food don't order...

I literally don’t know how this place got 4.5 stars. The only thing I can think of is that the people that are rating it this I have never eaten at any other buffet... First thoughts going here is that the parking lot is always busy. It seems . So it must be good….. First impression was the place was muggy. The door was gross. Visited at 7:45pm over 90% of the food looked like it had been sitting out forever and I started to get scared. I know they can’t control flies, but there was flies landing on the food. The food was bland and mushy. Tried the hibachi only because it was included in the Buffet price and they cook the meat so it was probably the most safe thing to eat there, but there was flies on the hibachi buffet. Also. They did bring out more food by the time we were leaving. Overall atmosphere was awkward. There was no music playing and there was people facetiming and having loud phone calls. Nothing is good in Gainesville if u have the option...
