Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Galax

FIRST off a couple of months ago, me and my boyfriend went here when they were having the lunch special of $7.99 11-4. me and my boyfriend came in at 3:45 and WAITED at the door with no hello, no welcome to applebee’s nothing, until 3:54 we sat at our table until 4:02 until someone finally came for our drink order and our order i stated that i wanted the lunch special and the waitress began to ARGUE with me that i couldn’t order it because it was 4:02 at this point. i said “lady, we have been here since 3:45 WAITING!” and she said “no ma’am you got here at 4:01” i said “no ma’am i did not, and i will be leaving” she said “let me do ask my manager” rolled her eyes and came back saying “go ahead with the order” then gave me the lunch special. the special our food was cold and the french fries were so dry and tasted like they had been sitting there for hours. we then came back tonight on July 3rd, walked in the door and waited 10 minutes to be seated. we got the 2 for $26 and i got wings, and two steaks. the wings were COLD and she DIDNT even come check to see if our appitizer was any good. she walked past the table multiple times and seen the wings and NEVER said a word. the MANAGER brought our food out and she asked us ONCE how our food was. and there was only a total of 7 tables in here. with...

Wife and I arrived after the lunch rush....had to wait a very long time before being greeted by the hostess. Finally got seated, but multiple tables and booths were still dirty and cluttered. Ordered our beverages, received them in decent time. Placed our order (2 for $25). The appetizer came fairly quickly. When the entrees arrived the appearance was good, but we both found the fries to be overly seasoned (to much salt and pepper). The burgers were dry and overcooked. The onion, lettuce, tomatoe and pickle saved it. The buns were a little dry and old tasting. Cheese would have been nice, but $1.00 for cheese is ridiculous. The service was ok...had 3 different ppl checking on us....guess they we're all fighting for the tip. Our total out the door was $28.20, I left $5.00 which I think was fair. Can't give much more of a review...lots of tables still needed cleaning. Don't know about the restrooms. Maybe dinner time is better, but doubt I'll try the lunchtime again (like I said the lunch rush was clearly over, lots of seating available) and this was the Friday before Christmas. I deleted my review from early 2022 where during a dinner outing where this same place got 5 stars across the board. Now almost 2 years later y'all can't get 3 stars across the board. I'm only giving it a 2 star because the wonderful waitress who stepped in to actually get our order turned in was great. Our original waitress took our drink order (waters all the way around) and the food order, went back toward the kitchen and that's the last we saw of her for over an hour. The other waitress in our section, and forgive me but I can't recall her name, finally asked if we'd been waited on. I explained the other waitress just left us high and dry so the good one took our order and brought us water. We still waited over 30 minutes for our food, which was good, and then lo and behold, the first waitress wandered over to see how we liked what we were eating! I gave her the rundown of my grievances, she muttered something about dyslexia and went away. This was my 3rd trip to this particular Applebee's. The first trip was awful and involved gross, sticky tables and trying to order food that they apparently had run out of. My 2nd trip there was great... Good service and good food. This trip? May have been my last. After being in that restaurant for over 2 hours last night, I wasn't even offered a free dessert. Haha. Probably just as well because I'd still be there waiting for it...
