We came here on Christmas Eve for breakfast as our last stop before returning home after a very long road trip. I have been to a couple of diners with Route 66 theme so far. Yet, this was the best in my opinion. People were so friendly, and no, I am not talking only about who works there; everyone including other customers currently having their meals or chit-chatting, or whoever came after us. Everyone welcomed us. Tbh, I've never ever experienced something like this. I felt like I walked into one of my relatives' houses. The service was also top-notch. They gave suggestions about the menu and kept refilling our coffee throughout our meal. The menu was very affordable and the items were quite big. My husband ordered carne adovada plates, and I ordered a carne adovada burrito from the grab & go section. I didn't know, and our server warned me that that burrito would be smaller in size than the regular burrito which was listed very back of the menu. Well, I cannot eat a lot in one sitting, so I went with the small one. Glad I did. Because it was still too much for me to eat in the morning. Both items would be prepared with either red or green chili. Because we couldn't decide, our server suggested having it together; make it Christmassy. I loved the sauce. I can handle my spice, so I felt it maybe 6 or 7 out of 10. A good kick, and still enjoyable to eat. If I ever be on the same road to some places, I will definitely stop by...
Read moreI went crawling in right after a medical procedure, hurting, still coming down from the stress and it was a godsend.
I was a little light headed from pain killers, but this entire crew was a blessing!
Of course I'm crushing on the adorable young woman that served my friend and I, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I cannot recall her name (perhaps when the vicodine haze lifts it will return to my memory.)
But, it wasn't just her. The entire crew stopped by during our meal, every single person working there was far and away more gracious, courteous, and just wonderful than any person could possibly expect.
Bottom line, I wish my old bones could work there because it looks like FUN to be part of their team.
Alas I live in Grants and honestly, don't need a job.
However...I can assure you that I will never step foot in Gallup again without returning to Rt 66 Diner.
Thank you crew of Rt 66 diner for making what was a so-so day (I don't enjoy having surgery) into a day I will...
Read moreWent on a search for a new Breakfast place I hadn't yet tried in Gallup, N.M. I was a little confused because I was looking for a place names Aurelia's?!? Yet, the address was the correct address and they were open at 07:00 a.m. After looking the menu over, I contemplated between the smothered breakfast burrito and the breakfast stuffed sopapilla. The breakfast sopapilla once delivered looked and smelled great, crispy edges of the sopapilla added texture to the dish, but fell flat in the middle because it became a little dry towards the middle! The waitress was great, very attentive, refilling or refreshing my coffee without ever having to grab her attention. I did however, make a recommendation to the waitress that some green chili sauce on the inside of the sopapilla would have made...
