Galveston, Texas has many places to kick back and drink delicious craft beer. Most of them are beer bars scattered throughout the island, but there are a few places that brew their own as well and one of them is Beerfoot Brewery.
I have visited Beerfoot many times since it first opened. It’s a small brewery with a small brewing system and they only brew a small number of their own beers. On my most recent visit, they had only one of their own, house brewed beers on tap. This was a bit of a disappointment, since I wanted to try more of what they brew. In the past, I have been there when they had as many as three of their own beers on tap, and this is certainly better, but it is still less than what you find at most breweries.
What Beerfoot Brewery lacks in serving beers of its own, it makes up for in the number of beers from other breweries. There are about 20 or so taps of beer and dozens of bottles and cans, most of which seem to favor Texas brewed suds. In this respect, Beerfoot Brewery is like a beer bar that also happens to brew beer of its own. This sets it apart from other breweries, the majority of which serve more of their own beers than they do their competitors beers. For quick reference, the beers on tap are spelled out on a chalkboard, behind the bar. This is nice, but it would be better if the beer names also showed the name of the brewery that makes them. As a craft beer writer and seeker of new brew, I like to know what brewery brews the beer and with a system like this, you don’t know unless you ask, which takes additional time.
For entertainment, Beerfoot Brewery has a foosball table and pool table. The foosball table was broken when I was there, but the pool table was in functional order so the rest of the family spent time shooting pool. The wide, open window in front is nice, because it means good views of the Gulf of Mexico. Parking is somewhat of an issue, though. You may very well have to search up and down adjacent streets to find a place to park, then make your way to Beerfoot on foot.
Galveston, Texas is all about fun in the sun and beer is big part of any fun occasion. Beerfoor Brewery is a good place to kick back and down a few brews and its close proximity to the Gulf makes it perfect for a beer break. It does lack in a few areas, but the beer selection makes Beerfoot Brewery...
Read moreAs one that visits Galveston quite a lot, I know this is the best place in Galveston to get a good pint. They have usually 2 - 3 beers on draft of their making. The rest of the beers are a sampling of a wide variety of beers, most coming from Texas. (I can say frankly that microbrews in Texas have come a very long way in the last 5-10 years & are producing high quality beers -- enough to rival states like Colorado.) They also do the fantastic "Flights & Bites" on the first Wednesday of the month which pairs 4 different 4 oz. (a "flight") with food for $10.00. I encourage you to go; but go early as food can go fast sometimes. Wednesday night is always a flight night which runs $5.00. If you like variety or are open to new experiences, the flight is for you.
The atmosphere is typically good but work week nights can be a little slow. But if you like it to not be so noisy, have a beer chill, hang with a few regulars, & maybe listen to music from the jukebox, that is your time to go. On weeknights after or around 10 p.m. things pick up as the industry crown shows up. If you like a younger crowd & plan on staying up late on a week night; this is your time to go. It's a great place to go watch games, too.
All in all, if you're a true beer aficionado, this is where you want to go on the island. Remember that the next time you...

I would most definitely check tab before leaving, my tab was nearly 400$ and after doing the math myself, inebriated to tbe max, I found my tab to be under 200$. On top of that, had the audacity to make sure I was the first one out (right at 2 on the dot 5 minutes after the aforementioned situation occured) and very quickly made it an intimidation game where the only male bartender came withint 1 foot of my face and told me I had to leave.I am in no way a belligerent or even unfriendly kind of guy drunk or sober. But honestly I truly enjoyed my night here outside of the bar staff. atmosphere was great, met a lot of cool poeple, including the bartenders, but honestly the whole situation kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I am a tourist so perhaps that is the reason the double tab, but I highly recommend trying the other bars in the area before trying this one. Absolutely horrible, dishonest, and down right shifty people that work there, keep a note of your tab or write it down, because this bar seems to think they can get over on tourist. I hate to leave a bad review but its insane to me to overcharge someone 200$+ because they couldn't...
