Galveston, Texas is an island town and like any island town, there are lots of places to eat and drink that are located directly on or near the waterfront. Float Pool and Patio Bar is one of them- a place to eat and drink and also take a dip in the outdoor pool, if you’re so inclined. With the atmosphere, Float is a tropical type of place with an indoor and outdoor section. The outdoor area has open views of the Gulf of Mexico and there is a second level deck with even better views. Most unique of all, however, is the outdoor pool. It’s shallow and not very big, but it’s a fun place to take a dip when the weather is warm and you’re in the need of a cooldown. Only a small number of people can fit into the pool, but it is still a popular attraction with guests. Food at Float Pool and Patio Bar is decent overall. The burgers are topped with Float’s own special sauce, which adds some spice and character. The prices are generally low, but make sure you pay close attention to the cost of adding different toppings. Each item you add will increase the price. It’s still inexpensive overall, but this is still something to keep in mind. The drinks served at Float Pool and Patio Bar include tropical drink options and beer, both draft and bottled/canned. I wasn’t too thrilled with the draft options, but I did find local beer among the canned offerings. This was just want I wanted to match with my burger and fries which, added to the views of the Gulf and sounds of the waves, made for an enjoyable afternoon. Waterfront bars and restaurants are a common occurrence on most tourist islands. Float Pool and Patio Bar is a cool place not only for the views, but also for the outdoor pool. It’s a fun place for a quick meal, drink, and swim in this island city.

This place is lovely and very relaxing! Has a casual laidback vibe. The swim up pool bar was a nice surprise I want expecting. My husband and I took our new sister-in-law and my brother here from out of state to get a nice Galveston coastal tour. We sat up on the top outside deck so they could experience the breeze and waves crashing. The bar does have service up on the top deck, however, it takes a minute for a server to get to you. The gal we had a sweet and took some pictures for us. We only had a quick drink, so beer and chips and queso to snack on. The beer was good, but served in a plastic cup. The chips and queso were ok.. nothing special. Chips were cut and fried tortillas and were greasy with very little chips in ratio to the amount of queso (not enough chips for 2 people to share). I give this place a 4 and would have given a 3.5 because it took a little while you get service up on the top deck and our appetizer was subpar, but the view it beautiful and can't be beat with the nice added touch of the swim up bar.

How did we live 2 years without eating here? Their food is delicious & very reasonably priced! My hubs loves their burger. Their chicken quesadillas are delicious! The portion is large enough for my daughter & I to share. My favorite is their fish tacos, verdes style. It comes with black beans & and rice, which are surprisingly so good. The fish is fresh & always cooked well. Their red salsa & chips is delicious and spicy. Theri queso is just okay. Fried pickles are goos. On Thursdays ONLY, they have crawfish eggrolls which are AMAZING! Cool vibe & gulf views. They offer great drink and food specials. I believe kids are okay to hang until 2p. They have a heated pool outside, but we have yet to check it out. Definitely recommend!

We sat outside after being told a waitress would come by—waited over 15 minutes and no one showed up. I finally went inside to the bar to place an order, only to be told someone would “be sent to our table.” When the waitress finally came, she insisted on taking a credit card before placing the order, even though I clearly stated we were paying in cash. Apparently, they just “needed one on file.” Strange, but whatever.

Food eventually came out… except for my meal. My guest got theirs, and I sat there waiting another 30 minutes with no updates. The waitress never once came back to check on us, ask if we needed anything, or even acknowledge that my food never arrived.

When I finally went back to the bar to close out, I discovered the waitress had already run our card—and worse, she gave it to the wrong table. A total stranger signed and tipped on my card, even though I had already told her multiple times we were paying with cash. They voided the charge, but at that point I had zero confidence my information was safe. Now I get to go through the hassle of ordering a new card thanks to their incompetence.

To top it off, when I mentioned I never received my sandwich, no one offered to make it. The manager (or whoever was in charge) stood right there and couldn’t care less about what had happened.

Complete chaos, zero accountability, and no customer care whatsoever. I will never come back here, and I’d strongly recommend others save themselves the headache, sucks when you're actually...

I have been to the float a few years back and had no issues. But on Friday we went to have a drink. We went to the top level and the waitress never greeted she rudely stated the kitchen is close. And continue to walk away without a greeting. She returns to finish cleaning her table (still no greeting) I politely asked her did they have a drink menu, again rudely she points at the menu and say it’s only bar service you will have to go downstairs to make order and proceeds to walk off. We were then greeting by another young lady taking our drink orders. I asked I thought that it was only bar services and we would have to go to the bar (she stated the bar was backed up so she decided to help) meanwhile the guy waitress as well the rude waitress was still working the same floor. We were a group of 8 blacks that I believe the young lady racially profiled before trying to assist us. Everyone grown with decent jobs treated with such disrespect. Even the water down drink wouldn’t stop me from coming because view and vibe nice but that young lady has made us feel very unwelcome. I made the young lady who helped us aware of how the lady treated...
