Really is one of the best tours for the island, local or visitor. It's an amazing little vehicle to be able to just drive from land to water like it does, also pretty sure it's one of very few running vehicles of it's type known to still function as it's made to. The information on the tour that gets loud speakered to you is really, really interesting & accurate to the best of my knowledge as a local and having been born/raised on the island. It's really worth the experience and cost.. kinda one of a kind tour and locally known for sure.. They have done those duck tours quite a while from what I recall. You do actually often see ducks when you enter the water as well, it's a known spot the ducks like daily frequent. It's a great way to see and learn actual Galveston history... I've not known them to be inaccurate or spread misinformation. Last time I went I even heard a few things I didn't know about the area and I like to think I've pretty fully immersed myself in the history, culture and community here over my lifetime so... Lol. Yeah, super informative if you actually wanna see and learn anything while visiting as we do have an extremely rich history and quite explosive events that founded and developed Galveston as it exists today. I believe it is run by locals as well so supporting the local economy at home and traveling should always be a plus... It is right off seawall by pleasure pier as well as can't miss the tour starting point and usually isn't hard to find parking here as it's all up and down seawall. Think it's cash only and tips encouraged which they always do a great job on those tours so I remember always tipping super well and wanting to because it's always super nice to do every so often even living here. You gotta hang out sometimes till theres enough folks to start the tour but I've never hung out too long and always plenty to do right there while you wait... The view alone is all consuming frankly... Being off Seawall is never a waste or bad time LOL. Worth the cost and experience hands down. Highly recommend to...
Read moreOh, Duck Tours, I must say, this year's experience left me quacking in disappointment. Last time, I gave you a soaring 5-star rating, but this time around, I can only muster a measly 3 stars. What happened, you ask? Well, let me spill the beans.
First and foremost, let's talk about Captain Caroline. Oh boy, where do I even begin? She seemed to have taken a crash course in being unfunny because her sense of humor was simply atrocious. I mean, she made a desert seem like an oasis of laughter. It was painfully unfunny, like watching a stand-up comedian bomb on stage. I didn't crack a smile, let alone a giggle.
Now, let's talk about the tour itself. It felt like a history lesson gone wrong. Sure, it's great to learn about the past, but when it's presented in a way that makes me forget everything I heard, then we have a problem. All those dates and facts were like trying to memorize the phone book, utterly forgettable. It's as if they were intentionally chosen to induce temporary amnesia. Not cool, Duck Tours, not cool.
And let's not forget the bayou part of the tour. Last year, it was a leisurely cruise through a picturesque wonderland. But this time, it felt like a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. The time spent in the bayou was shorter than a cat's attention span. I barely had time to admire the beauty before we were whisked away to the next mundane stop. It's like someone pressed the fast-forward button on the remote control of life.
Captain Caroline, please take note. You're supposed to be a tour guide, not a monotone lecturer. I expected excitement, adventure, and a touch of pizzazz. Instead, I got a monotone drone, resembling a high school teacher on a particularly boring Monday morning. Yawn!
Duck Tours, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you seriously need to up your game. Last year was a delightful voyage, but this year left me feeling more deflated than a popped balloon. I hope you take this feedback to heart and come back stronger, funnier, and more memorable. The quackers of the world are...
Read moreI'm giving it 3 stars not because of the tour but because of the poor judgement calls made by the people selling tickets. We discovered this option while walking down Strand St. and thought it would be something interesting for the kids. We arrived and 2 people from our party were let out to purchase tickets while the rest of us went to find a parking spot. We ended up on the 1 pm tour, which was fine with us as we did arrive about 10 minutes prior to that tour leaving. There were 7 of us and 2 can fit per seat, however we did have kids who if we needed to squeeze into 1 seat we could but they would be uncomfortable. We had 24 people on the tour, one of which was a infant (who was being carried by her mother in a Sling, and who she also had to pay for by the way.) Apparently at some point prior there were 4 additional seats sold, which put 1 of each of that party sitting with different people that were not in their party. We sat on the bus for about 10 minutes past the start of our tour time (Which isn't a big deal) while the girl who was selling tickets tried to figure out either who she was going to have to kick off or convince them to take the 2 pm tour. The tour guide finally got up closed the step and was going over instructions when the guide sold 2 more seats...meaning that all 3 of our kids had to sit together for an hour ride. They were extremely uncomfortable and did. It enjoy themselves at all. The tour itself was okay. It was very informative, but we missed a lot because we were trying to maintain 3 kids. It is worth doing if you have never done it or do not know the history...
