Review of THE SPOT (3 stars)
I recently visited THE SPOT with a friend and had a mixed experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were also a few issues that affected our overall enjoyment.
Let's start with the positives. The variety of hamburgers offered at THE SPOT is delicious and tasty. The menu provides a range of options to cater to different preferences, and we found the flavors to be satisfying. The restaurant also has a fun and lively decor, with a surfer beach vibe that adds to the festive atmosphere. Being located on Seawall, it's a great spot for tourists waiting for their cruise ship travels, as they can enjoy the ambiance and indulge in some good food.
However, there were a few drawbacks that prevented me from giving THE SPOT a higher rating. One major issue was the excessively loud music. At times, the volume was cranked up so high that it made it difficult to hold a conversation without raising our voices. This took away from the overall dining experience, as my friend and I had to give up on talking to each other during the rest of the meal.
Another problem we encountered was the slow service. We had to wait for a considerable amount of time for our meal, only to be told later that our food had been ready but was not taken to our table. This lack of attentiveness from the staff was disappointing and disrupted the flow of our dining experience.
Additionally, the second floor of the restaurant was uncomfortably freezing. This made it uncomfortable to dine there, and it would have been better if the temperature had been regulated properly.
Considering these issues, I am hesitant to give THE SPOT a higher rating. While the delicious burgers and festive decor are definite highlights, the problems with the loud music, slow service, and uncomfortable temperature on the second floor were significant drawbacks. I hope that these issues were isolated incidents and not a regular occurrence, as THE SPOT has the potential to be a perfect place...
Read moreIf you’re thinking about coming here cause the food looks good, save your time and money. You order your food at a counter and they bring you the food. An hour later that is. We were a party of two, each with a simple burger order. We waited just over 45 minutes to get our food. People literally nearby showed up after us, got their food, ate and left before we even got ours. Servers aren’t assigned a table and they don’t check on you so we grabbed someone walking by and asked them about our food. They went to the kitchen and came right back with it. The burgers and fries were literally room temp, maybe ever so slightly warmer, and the Mac n cheese was still warm in the center and bottom. So basically it was just sitting back there and no one ever brought it out. I will start off with the good, the fries were honestly the best fries I’ve ever had, no kidding. So perfectly crispy on the outside and just right on the inside and perfect flavor, fantastic dipped in ranch or even by itself. Mac n cheese was pretty good just needed a little salt n pepper. The burgers however were not just not good, they actually disgusted me I could only force myself to eat half. It was the meat that tasted really funky, had no seasoning and the meat itself didn’t taste right. The carmalized onions didn’t taste like normal onions either. Idk wth was goin on with them. The burger comes with bbq sauce but I switched it out for “the spot sauce” which is literally lightly seasoned horseradish sauce. Had to drench my sandwhich in ranch to cover its flavor and eat half of it. The other burger had like one tiny splash of bbq sauce just in the center. The meat was dryer than uncooked rice. Toast it was on had no flavor like garlic butter or anything, just a plain flavorless piece of toast. For as long as we waited I wish the food had at the very least been edible. The only thing I’d get from here is those...
Read moreSeven venues in one place. Awesome personalities greeted us and were very kind, smiling warmly and welcoming. Many tables on the terrace and indoors to choose from. A great and varied menu to suit whatever taste you're feeling. You can order your food and choose any table in any of the venues to sit and your food will find you, via a locator device you set in the middle of your table. And FAST. The food itself was good, albeit simply prepared and mostly deep fried (we did order the appetizer sampler that included mostly deep fried items - shrimp, onion rings, a tilapia filet, waffle fries - so I can't complain so much), but sitting on a second level patio terrace with an amazing ocean view and several winged friends all around made the experience a brightening and happy one. And the food really did taste great, no matter how it was cooked. My lovely lady and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The staff really are all top-notch, all smiles and helpful beyond measure. We will definitely be going back before our much-loved vacation is done. I'd say anyone and everyone should hit this place at least a few times whenever possible. P.S. For any unknowing touristy types, like me and my babe, the seagulls, Gracks, and pigeons can be a real joy. They will fly and/or walk right by your feet seeking the good food. As my pics show, I couldn't resist pitching tiny pieces of waffle fries and fish to the gulls and the somewhat fat pigeon that approached nearly like a pet cat. The great tailed Gracks here are beautifully iridescent black, quite talkative, and appreciative of any morsels. Our apologies to the staff if this practice is frowned upon, but we had great...
