This is one of a very few bad reviews I've ever written, but it's warranted. This was a long, awaited family outting, and I don't know if we chose the wrong night, or the wrong restaurant. Landry's is known for being a top notch place at which to dine...but I don't know what happened during our visit. When we arrived, a little after 8pm (the restaurant closes at 10p), we were seated immediately because the restaurant wasn't packed. Our server, greeting us after we'd been sitting for more than a few minutes, took our drink order. We ordered cocktails and water 'with lemons'. The lemons never came. It took more than 15 minutes for the drinks to be delivered to our table. The server then disappeared again for awhile. We wanted to order an appetizer BEFORE our meal arrived. The server came back. We've now been sitting more than 30 minutes. She takes our order, still no lemons. I leave to visit the restroom. When I returned, there was bread on the table. We ate the bread, and then waited an UNACCEPTABLE amount of time for our food. People were leaving...and we sat there, continuing to wait, and wait. The server came back to our table, and we asked for more water. She left, and about 7-8 minutes later, a different server brought us water. We asked him about our food. Still no appetizer. The waiter told us that (2) chefs had left an hour ago, so the kitchen was just very busy. Why had 2 chefs left on a Friday night before closing time??? Finally, after about 45 minutes, food began to come...gumbo that we ordered...and STILL not the appetizer. Our server comes over and apologizes for not putting the order in for our appetizer- crab/shrimp spinach & artichoke dip. By now, we are so hungry, and just want to eat something besides bread. We were not pleased. I plan to leave a tip everytime I sit down for a meal, atleast 20%...the service was so bad that we began discussing the tip. My family member, who was paying for the meal, initially didn't want to leave any tip. Our daughter felt sorry for the server, even with the bad service, and because of that...an average tip was left....that's the ONLY reason why. We all have 'off' days. Last night, the service at Landry's was OFF. When we finally received our main courses, after sitting in the restaurant for MORE THAN AN HOUR, the food was SUBPAR, not representative at all of Landry's. My food looked and tasted like 'frozen, overcooked' fast food seafood. I ordered the Captain's seafood platter. We left not happy with the food or the service. The only decent looking meal was the pasta meal. My loved one wanted to take us out for a nice family dinner. We traveled for that reason....and Landry's was a HUGE disappointment! My family member spent close to $300 for our meal. To make a bad experience even worse...we (2 out of 4 of us) had to run to the bathroom after a 45 minute drive back home. You get the picture I'm sure. If I could give the restaurant a 'zero' for service and food, I would. The ambiance was beautiful, and our family being together was beautiful...but Landry's (in Galveston off the seawall) service and food were terrible. What a...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Landry’s, and I cannot sing enough praises for our outstanding server, Thomas. From the moment we were seated, he greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm that set the tone for a delightful evening.
Thomas’s knowledge of the menu was impressive! He took the time to explain various dishes, offering recommendations based on our preferences and dietary restrictions. It was evident that he genuinely wanted to ensure we had the best dining experience possible. His passion for the food and dedication to helping us find the perfect meal truly made an impact.
Throughout the evening, Thomas checked in on us regularly, ensuring our drinks were topped off and that we were enjoying our meals. His attentiveness was spot on—he seemed to know exactly when we needed something without being intrusive. It’s rare to find a server who can balance this level of attentiveness with a relaxed demeanor, and Thomas did it flawlessly.
As for the food, I must say that Thomas's recommendations did not disappoint! The dishes he suggested were not only delicious but beautifully presented as well. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, and we all appreciated his insight into which dishes paired best with our choices. It felt as though we were on a culinary adventure with Thomas guiding us every step of the way.
Additionally, Thomas shared engaging stories about the restaurant’s history and the inspirations behind some of the dishes, which added a personal touch to our dining experience. His friendly demeanor and engaging conversation made it feel like we were dining with an old friend rather than just a server.
To cap off the evening, Thomas even surprised us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate a special occasion we were having. This thoughtful gesture spoke volumes about his commitment to making our dinner not just a meal, but a memorable occasion. It was enthusiastically received by our table and the perfect ending to a fantastic night.
Overall, Thomas exemplified what exceptional service looks like. His warmth, professionalism, and passion for his work transformed our dinner into a delightful experience we won’t soon forget. If you are fortunate enough to dine at Landry’s, I highly recommend requesting Thomas as your server—you won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Thomas, for making our evening so special. We look forward to returning soon for another wonderful...
Read moreI really give this place a 3.5 out of 5. The food was alright. I was more disappointed in the service. We had originally reserved a spot outside to which they closed since it had been raining earlier. We also had a birthday in our party which was mentioned in our initial reservation and there was no mention of it at all at any point during our meal. When we arrived at our time it had stopped the host wasn’t going to sit us outside until we asked him to asked the manager. She was great and opened it up for us to sit outside which was great. However, he seem slightly annoyed about it. Our waiter comes and greets us takes our order and he is genuinely a nice guy; I liked him a lot. It’s just that the service we got was extremely disappointing. We didn’t get checked on to see if we needed another drink. Before we had really even finished or got a chance to ask for more food if we wanted it or even a togo box the check was at our table. Of course there was no rush but our waiter had a larger party to attend to so that’s where he wanted to focus. Obviously, his tip would be significantly higher than our small party. It was obvious that’s where his priorities were, we got our to go boxes and left. The crab legs were good you got about 2 and 1/2 crabs in total although market price seemed incredibly high. The fried zucchini wasn’t bad but the oil they fried it in had a strong seafood flavor. Ranch I got was flavorful but was very runny. Wasn’t the best viscosity for a ranch, would’ve liked it slightly thicker. That made me think of cross contamination and how often they change their oil. The chicken and noodles were alright but they were very greasy and bland with a prominent garlic flavor. The garlic bread we did get was delicious and soft. Ordered the shipwrecked cocktail that came in the best tiki glass that I’d of liked to of had as a souvenir, it was big and the straw was fun. The drink needs improvement. It had a taste that reminded me of dots candy and essential oils. The cheesecake aside from the crab legs was probably the highlight of the meal. It wasn’t the best thing I’d ever had and could be significantly better. I was hoping for a better experience over all and they couldn’t even make the bar. I go to pay more to not go to Bubba Gumps even though they are owned by the...
