I came to Miller's Seawall Grill on September 28, 2025. I was really looking forward to trying Miller’s after a long time without seafood, but my experience was completely ruined by the treatment my friend and I received from our server, Michelle. As someone who also works in the restaurant industry, I usually give servers the benefit of the doubt, but the way we were treated left me feeling discriminated against and unwelcome.
From the start, I noticed Michelle being attentive, kind, and conversational with all her other tables — except ours. When she came to take our order, she seemed annoyed and made me feel rushed. Since it was my first time, I asked for recommendations, but instead of being helpful she said, “I’m allergic to seafood so I haven’t tried anything here,” in a dismissive tone. When I asked her opinion between shrimp and oysters, she repeated the same line, even more rudely. As a server myself, I know that even if you haven’t personally tried everything, you can still recommend popular items or mention what other guests usually enjoy.
What made it worse was hearing her give cheerful, detailed recommendations to other tables right after. Her entire demeanor changed with them, which made the contrast in treatment toward us impossible to ignore.
When our food arrived, it was just dropped off without any explanation of which dish was which. After that, she never returned to check on us while we ate — though she visited all of her other tables multiple times, chatting and making small talk with them. We needed more napkins but couldn’t even get her attention because she consistently walked right past our table. It was very obvious we were being intentionally ignored.
Near the end, she came by once to ask if we were “good,” and we finally asked for napkins (which we no longer needed by then). Then, without a word, she dropped off the check — not asking if we wanted dessert, to-go boxes, or if we were ready to pay, all of which I heard her offer to every other table. To make matters worse, she didn’t even give us the chance to request separate checks, so my friend had to ask the host for help. When Michelle returned, she tossed the split checks on the table without speaking.
We ended up paying at the front, but Michelle still came over, processed the payment, stared at us with a visibly annoyed face while we signed, and gave a half-hearted “Have a great day.” Despite the poor treatment, we still left her a small tip, but honestly, the service deserved none.
This whole experience was hurtful and extremely disappointing. I left feeling singled out and discriminated against for no reason, and it completely overshadowed what should have been a relaxing day in Galveston. Based on my experience here, I do not recommend Miller’s — especially for Asian women or younger diners — as I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what I experienced.
It’s unfortunate that one server’s behavior can cast such a shadow over an entire restaurant, but after reading other reviews, it seems my experience with Michelle may not be unique. I hope management takes this seriously and...

After deciding to skip the "free" breakfast at our hotel we decided to venture out and try some of the local cuisine, and boy let me tell y'all BEST decision ever!!! We ended up at Miller's Seawall Grill and they did not disappoint. My husband is straight obsessed with biscuits and gravy and other then his mothers homemade version they come in at a strong second and that's saying a lot since this man will smash biscuits and gravy daily and usually orders two servings. His eggs were cooked to perfection and he really liked the grits.
Now for what I ordered, I had the Lump Crab Benedict and OMG it is heaven on a plate!!! The hollandaise sauce was so creamy and smooth, eggs cooked to perfection and the crab cake in place of a biscuit is the most genius part of this dish. The crab cake was sweet but fresh and the lump crab meat was absolutely divine. For the first time in a long time I was actually able to clear my plate. The second day I had the French toast and when I say this French toast is so good that it does NOT need syrup at all is it cinnamon crusted with the perfect crunch and such an amazing taste that I wish I knew the recipe or if they could just show up in my kitchen every morning that wold be magical!
-Service
We were greeted by the owner Sherri Smith with a smile and a warmth about her that made you fell like you were stepping in to Mommas kitchen for a home cooked meal. The atmosphere on the restaurant is so comfortable and makes you feel at home. On day one of breakfast here our server Kristy made us feel at home and made outstanding recommendations, letting us know her favorites. On day two our server was Mason he was super helpful and gave us outstanding service. There was another server Heliey that remembered us from the day before and came to say hello and asked us about our meal and was bubbly and just made you feel she was very genuine in her vibe. Sherri stopped by our table on our second trip to ask us about our mini vacation and what we did the day before and asked us about our plans for the day today. If i could give this place more then 5 stars I would.
I highly recommend coming here and having breakfast, lunch, and dinner because I believe there is something on the menu that anyone would enjoy so if you are in the area make sure you stop by and have a sit down in one of my now favorite restaurants...
Read moreWe showed up to Miller’s Seawall Grill in Galveston hungry, hopeful, and a little sunburned. Expectations were cautiously optimistic—because let’s be honest, seafood near a tourist-heavy seawall can go either way: unforgettable meal… or unforgettable regret.
But Miller’s? Miller’s delivered the kind of food that makes you consider quitting your job and becoming a beach bum just to be closer to the shrimp and grits.
Let’s break this holy trinity down:
The Corn Chowder: I don’t know what they put in this bowl of creamy goodness, but it’s probably banned in at least three coastal states for being too comforting. Rich, flavorful, a little sweet, and so good that I momentarily forgot I was married and offered my full devotion to a bowl of soup.
Boudin Balls: Absolute fire. Crispy on the outside, savory heaven on the inside. They disappeared faster than free WiFi in a hurricane.
My Snapper: Perfectly grilled and so fresh I half expected it to swim off the plate. The seasoning was subtle, letting the fish do the talking. It whispered, “You’re welcome.”
My Wife’s Shrimp and Grits: Legendary. And I don’t throw that word around lightly. The shrimp were plump and perfectly seasoned, nestled into a bed of creamy, cheesy grits like royalty returning from battle. I reached across the table for a bite and received the look—you know, the one that means, “touch my shrimp again and you’re walking back to the mainland.”
Dessert: Key lime pie. Tart, creamy, graham-cracker-crusted bliss. If this pie ran for office, I’d vote for it. Twice.
But let me tell you who really tied the whole experience together—Mira, our waitress. Snarky, sarcastic, quick with a joke, and sharp enough to keep us on our toes. Basically the waitress equivalent of your funniest friend’s sassier cousin who always wins at Cards Against Humanity. Mira didn’t just serve our food—she elevated the whole experience with perfectly timed zingers and a dose of Texas-sized charm. I’m not saying I want her to narrate my life, but I’m also not not saying that.
Miller’s Seawall isn’t just a seafood joint. It’s a coastal confessional where the food heals your soul, the dessert baptizes your sins in lime and cream, and the service makes you feel like you’re in on the joke.
Five stars, stretchy pants recommended, and if you see Mira—tell her we said thanks… and yes, we’re still thinking about...
