An Unforgettable Experience at Bardenay Distilling! My recent visit to Bardenay Distilling on Chinden in Boise was absolutely phenomenal – a solid 5-star experience from start to finish! From the moment we arrived with our large group of 14, we felt incredibly welcome. The fact that they handled our separate checks without a moment's hesitation truly set the tone for an exceptional evening. The patio is, without a doubt, a highlight. It's such a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy the Boise atmosphere, especially if you're staying at The Riverside Hotel, as it's conveniently located right in the same parking lot. You can't beat that for convenience! The happy hour menu is where Bardenay truly shines. We were blown away by the quality and value. The ceviche was simply incredible – fresh, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. And the satay? A fantastic value and absolutely delicious. What really elevated our experience was the incredible service. Laura, Lily, and John deserve special recognition. They were all so attentive, friendly, and efficient, making sure our large group felt completely taken care of. Their professionalism and warm demeanor truly made our visit memorable. It's also really cool that Bardenay makes their own spirits right there, and even has an onsite liquor store where you can purchase their creations. This commitment to craftsmanship really comes through in their drinks. Overall, Bardenay Distilling is a must-visit in Boise. Whether you're looking for an amazing happy hour, a beautiful patio, or just fantastic food and service, this place delivers. We can't wait to come back!

Industrial feel, much more than the other two Bardenay locations in the valley. Once the dining room is full, it's noisy with all the hard surfaces, looking forward to warmer weather to experience the outside covered patio but bear in mind, its right next to a busy Chinden Blvd. Inside seating about 60 plus the bar, mostly four tops, some tall with stools. Outside under cover with overhead heaters, which can seat up to ninety. The separate liquor store sells only their products, and several small batch items which are not available at Idaho State Liquor stores. Food: I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Bowl for $18 which had a lot of components and really is a great choice for lunch. Sweet chili aioli shrimp, avocado, gochujang marinated cucumbers, edamame, carrots, mango, rice, scallions, sesame seeds, and a side of soy sauce. The marinated cucumbers could be a little crunchier and add a little more sauce on the shrimp pieces to make it perfect. I also had the Sausage and White Bean soup, a cup at $5 and a house salad at $8 would also make a nice lunch. Service: in 2022, owner Kevin Settles and his wife Lisa sold the company into an employee trust. This seems to help in getting a seasoned, enthusiastic staff each time I have gone to one of their locations. Wednesday, the restaurant was packed, three large groups (we had eighteen) and service was flawless.

We had an amazing experience at Bardenay! The food was absolutely delicious, and everything came out fresh and full of flavor. The highlight of my meal was definitely the banana cheesecake—hands down one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Perfectly creamy, rich, and unforgettable! A huge shoutout to Hailey, who made the evening even better with her warm and attentive service. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. If you’re looking for great food, fantastic drinks, and outstanding service, Bardenay is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back!

Grilled Fish Tacos Worth Singing About—Bardenay Garden City Delivers a Surprise Win!

Bardenay has long been my tried-and-true go-to (Eagle location fans, you know what I mean), but the new Garden City spot just surprised me in the best way possible—and let’s be honest, that’s hard to do. Especially when it comes to fish tacos.

You see, I’m from Alaska. And while we can fry seafood, let’s just say we know there's a better way. So imagine my joy—no, my full-on happy dance—when I discovered grilled Baja fish tacos made with orange roughy on the menu. Not the usual tired cod. No, these beauties came straight off the "Santry" menu (a clever rebrand of appetizers) and landed at my table like culinary royalty.

I was expecting two bite-sized tacos, maybe three if the chef was feeling generous. What I got? Two full-sized, overachieving tacos packed with fresh, flavorful goodness. They looked good enough for a magazine shoot and tasted like they were blessed by Poseidon himself. These were no dainty starters—these were full-on entrée-level tacos in disguise. And they’ve now earned the title of “My Official Bardenay Order, Forevermore.”

The menu was another win: a well-curated selection with just enough variety to make you happy, but not so many options that you spiral into menu indecision. Goldilocks would approve.

Now, about the atmosphere—yes, the deck is lovely. It’s sunny, airy, and perfect for sipping cocktails while people-watching. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating fills up faster than free samples at Costco, so we ended up inside. If you’ve been to the Eagle location, you’ll know what I mean when I say the noise level has a personality of its own. Garden City kept that same high-energy vibe (read: slightly shouty conversation required), but honestly, once those tacos arrived, I would’ve happily sat in a broom closet to eat them.

So here's the playbook: if you're in Garden City, get there early and grab that prized outdoor seat. And whatever you do—order the Baja grilled fish tacos. They’re not just good, they’re menu gold....

I'm excited to see that Bardenay opened up their Garden City location. I appreciate that so many of these new restaurants are opening up in Garden City. No need to drive downtown or to Eagle to hit up Bardenay now. We have our own just around the corner from us!

Walking in, I was instantly greeted. I told one of the servers that we were expecting 7 to 8 people and they got a couple tables pushed together for us. We were nicely tucked in the back. Laura greeted the two of us and got some drinks started for us. I was exciting and got a Shirley temple. My aunt got a prickly part margarita and it looked fabulous!

Laura was really patient with our party. Several of the girls were late showing up but she checked up on us and made sure our drinks weren't dry. After everyone did show up, she got us all squared away with dinner orders.

For dinner I ordered the Honey Chipotle glazed salmon with 2 sides of the green beans instead of the potatoes. The salmon was grilled perfectly! I enjoyed the beautiful char marks on the salmon. It was also flaky and moist. The glaze had the right amount of heat to it! The green beans were super fresh! I do wish that they were cooked a little longer. They were a little too al dente for me.

This new venue is a great place for cocktails and a good meal. The venue, although it's new and shiny, it is quite congested. The venue isn't that big and when it gets busy it's packed. I know once the patio opens it will eliminate some of the congestion but until then, you'll be sitting back to back with other guests. If you're looking for more of a romantic dinner, I would suggest the other two locations. A casual date night option would be this Garden City location. Looking forward to coming back and trying other items...
