I've been searching for the best Camarones al Mojo I could find after Gloria's closed over a decade ago. Some places have come close but tonight, Barrigas blew my expectations out of the water. These were incredible with the bits of garlic, mushrooms, I think caramelized onions, butter, and perfect blend of spices. the presentation was stunning. The rice and beans are the best we've ever had. Partner got the Churrasco con Chimichurri with the steak perfectly cooked medium-rare and beautiful flavor profile. We are blown away. The service was so welcoming and attentive as well. We will definitely be back!! Update 8/20/21: Went back again! Just as friendly as before. I needed the Camarones al Mojo again but my partner ventured to the asada. Oh mah goodness. It was all so incredible AGAIN. The beans are the best I've ever had. The shrimp was wildly delicious again. I was nervous the asada wouldn't be as great as the Churrasco and i was very wrong. I let that asada rest on my tongue and the buttery, umami was incredible. Another great dish! By far, the best Mexican food we've ever had. We'll keep driving from Meridian/Nampa to come here! I know people keep saying this is pricey but i don't agree with them given the quality and quantity. With our two amazing dishes and a soda, it was only $40 before tip. It's worth it and i would pay more if i had to.

On 3/7/21, I visited Barrigas in Garden City for the first time. I was impressed! Everything from the food to the service and ambience were excellent. I ordered the following: Huachinango ($17.99) - Grilled red snapper covered with special fire roasted sauce and served on top of sautéed vegetables. This is a Veracruz style fish dish that I’ve never seen on a menu before. It is one of their house specialties. For sides, I chose rice and seasoned corn. The fish had great flavor, which was enhanced by the lightly sautéed vegetables beneath it. While I liked the corn, it didn’t seem to have much seasoning except maybe a little butter. I loved the rice, which was very flavorful. Chile Relleno ($8.50). The flavor was every bit as good as the presentation. It was excellent! Pastel De Limon ($5.99) This was my first time trying this dessert. The flavor is slightly reminiscent of a lime flavored cheesecake, but much lighter. Inside, there are layers of thin wafers, which gives it a nice texture. Highly Recommended!!!

Excellent food and additional parking lot down 35th street! I placed a pick-up order for a lunch Chicken Tostada. The gal on the phone and the server when I stopped in were both very friendly. The flavors in the chicken, guacamole and salsa were delicious, the seasoning and fresh ingredients made for a very tasty dish. Now, as much as I love mexican food I tend to shy away from too much cilantro and too much spice (my mouth is a pansy). The dish had quite a bit of cilantro but it wasn't overpowering compared to the other flavors, which was a pleasant surprise. Also while the food had a bite, it wasn't anything my pansy self couldn't tolerate. I'll definitely be back to try more of their food. Yum! Also, don't let the location or the slightly cheesy character sign out front fool you, they did an excellent job on the remodel of this building. The interior is beautifully updated and well lit (but not too bright). An excellent place to meet for a working lunch or a get together with family.

What a lovely little find! We are ridiculously excited about Barrigas. Not the standard "mexican food" that is served in our area. This is fresh and fun food. I had the most amazing vegetarian burrito ever (yes...there is a huge difference in veggie burritos in this valley). My sides were a salad and fresh steamed veggies that were absolutely fantastic and seasoned quite lovely. So much flavor and everything cooked to perfection. Hands down this is a winner in the valley. The guys had carne asada burritos and our gal pal had the carne asada. She commented on how good it was and seemed quite impressed that they cooked it perfectly. Everything is fresh and tasty and when you leave this establishment you don't leave with the feeling of a gut bomb. The restaurant itself is very clean, open and fresh. The servers are some of the best in the valley, super sweet and attentive. The only thing I would change is a little variation in the beer menu. I think it would be cool if they carried a couple local beers as an alternative option (like an ipa and/or a porter or stout) but I also realize that that is asking a lot! haha And beer is definitely NOT a deal breaker. We just try to support local in every way we can. :) Give them a try. You won't be disappointed! Oh...and docking a star on a review is not cool because they are short staffed. It is hard, in fact somewhat impossible, finding help these days. It is not the fault of the restaurant and staff if they can't get enough help. Just sayin'...someone might want to reconsider that 4...

Do not be fooled by the 3, 4,5 star ratings. lol this place has ok food. It’s not your typical Mexican food. You know the red rice and Mexican flavors. It’s a very different flavor of Spanish food.. i ordered a virgin pinacolada with an appetizer. They never brought me water nor did they offer me another drink or water the entire hour I was there. They brought my apitizer my drink.. and ignored me the entire time after. A girl came to check the table quickly but only to make sure I was still there since she couldn’t see me behind the big bench. I just noticed her walking away quickly. She didn’t even notice I was out of drink and been waiting for the check. After waiting another 20 min for someone I just see a head pop out of kitchen every 10 min.. then finally I made noise at the front area two rude little girls put their phones down and came to the front. They appeared bothered that I had interrupted their social media time. Not asking how was everything or nothing. When they saw I put a big fat 0 on the tip they both laughed and said some rude comments as I was leaving. They expect kids to be servers in restaurants when they have no idea how to interact with people just their...
