Came here on a Sunday evening after walking around Esther Simplot Park (such a nice park btw). The outside patio area was fairly busy, while the inside dining area was completely empty. I really wanted to take a couple of pictures of the inside, but felt too shy and chickened out. It was beautiful outside so we decided to sit on the patio, however, I thought the inside dining area was very modern, had a lot of natural light, was VERY clean, and just felt really cozy. I can see it getting fairly loud in there when there are a couple of people eating in, since the actual floor space was a little small. Nevertheless, I REALLY liked their interior dining area. At the moment, there is construction going on right next to this place (maybe some new townhouses or apartment buildings), so it can get very noisy if you're on the patio during certain hours of the day.
Some of their menu items are fairly pricey, I personally just ordered a couple slices of pizza and a latte. Out of the pizza's I tried (Tomato Margarita & The Commission), I really liked the Tomato Margarita. I honestly enjoy any kind of pizza (yes, even the cheap Wal-Mart frozen pizza), so to me this pizza tasted fantastic. It's a fairly light pizza, so I had 2 slices of that and 1 slice of The Commission. They also have a little selection of pastries inside, but it's really small.
As far as drinks, I really liked their regular Latte. I'm in no way any kind of coffee expert (honestly, I only drink these kind of drinks only when I go "out"), but I really liked the taste, although it still wasn't as good as the Latte I had at the Konditorei Restaurant in Sun Valley. I also tried their Hazelnut Cappuccino, and thought it was way too sweet and artificial tasting (sort of tasted like sweet alcohol?). I'd like to try just a regular cappuccino next time.
Service was great and very friendly, I didn't have any complaints at all. One thing I'd like to mention was that we ordered pizza, so maybe we weren't supposed to get any napkins / utensils to begin with, but we did ask for some napkins on the side. The napkins we got were these black squares that almost felt like the material you'd lay down in your garden to prevent weeds (like that black felt type weed barrier). Kinda strange, or maybe these are actually fancy napkins that peasants like myself aren't aware of yet ;)
This was just a mini review, but to wrap things up, I really liked the whole package here. I HIGHLY recommend trying to get here right now as the weather is nice and cool, and walking around the park / greenbelt prior to coming here (if you can). Main reasons for 4 stars was that the menu is kinda expensive for what it is, and the Hazelnut flavored cappuccino didn't taste too good (IMO). With all that said, I'm still looking forward to...
Read moreOne of our worst dining experiences in a long time. Food was good – when it finally showed up. We love the original Luciano’s on Orchard so when we had a friend visiting we decided to give Caffe Luciano’s a try. I estimate we arrived around 7:15pm. The hostess said the wait would be about 15 minutes but our kids wanted to sit outside so she said the wait was longer for the patio – about 20 minutes. I wasn’t sure why because there were several empty tables outside when we walked up, but whatever. When we were seated the hostess had to go get something to wipe off the table because it was dusty – pretty clear no one had been sitting there for sometime, so again, not sure why we had to wait 15-20 minutes.
Our drink orders were taken promptly. At least ten minutes went by before we were brought water – and it was 90 degrees and we were sitting in the sun – water would have been nice to have right away. Ten more minutes went by before the drinks we ordered were brought and they weren’t anything complicated – three lemonades, a tap beer and a hard cider. We placed our food order. Time kept ticking by and my kids were getting restless, after all we had been there at least hour and still didn’t have food. Finally the adults’ side salads came out probably around 8:20. By 8:35 we still didn’t have food and were beginning to wonder if we would have anything to eat before they close at 9. Finally about 8:40 our food was brought out. We wolfed it down – it was good – but it was nearly 9pm and my kids needed to get to bed.
There was never an apology from any of the staff for the long wait for the drinks or food. They acted like it was the normal way they operate. I suggested to my husband maybe they had someone new in the kitchen and it wasn’t going smoothly, but that doesn’t explain why it took so long to even get water. Other restaurants would have offered an apology and/or explanation as to why it was taking so long and perhaps even offered something small for the kids to snack on while they waited. Fortunately the kids were well-behaved so they didn’t cause a problem, but I’m not taking that chance again – we won’t be back. We’ll stick to Luciano’s on Orchard because we have never had a bad experience there.
Four stars for the food. If judging on service alone one star. I'll say two...
Read moreAbsolutely NO PARKING!!! The lady up front needs some serious customer service lessons and some problem solving skills, as well as some dental hygiene. This is the second time I've been in here to get an uber eats pick up and both times this lady is very rude about looking at your phone and seeing you verify the order, even though she doesn’t understand what she is asking or looking for/at. She wanted me to "complete pick up" but doesn't understand that just pushes me through to the navigation and it had a green check where it had already been verified. Well I already had verified it and she doesn’t know what my app looks like clearly so she is worried I am going to steal her food I guess. I respectfully expressed that it is rude and explained that if she has someone steal from her, then she needs to remember that person and treat them like that. She says they all come back in although I know you get like 3 chances then they get kicked off the app. I am an honest worker and it is their choice to sign up to use a carrier like uber eats, after I gave her one solution she didn't like and said she didn't know what I meant. Not a problem solver and she made a big camotion about it with all the employees looking and I'm sure customers. More importantly she was just trying to argue with me the whole time, creating a toxic emviroment. Like take a note, look at a license plate, deny the thiefs sure or just cancel the option since you can't handle the PnL that comes with it. I also wouldn't be surprised if people find hair in their food often with the lack of uniform requirments, all of the women staff I saw had hair down loosely and all were at least shoulder length with multiple girls having hair down to their butt's not pulled...
