I drive by this place a lot when it's closed later in the day but I had the opportunity to grab breakfast today. It's Saturday morning, everyones out and about today. There isn't a real designated parking lot for this joint so it's street parking. It was busy so parking was kinda chaotic.
Walking in, the shop was buzzin! People ordering, people eating, people waiting. There was people everywhere! I love seeing this. businesses busy. I finally made it up to the counter. The gal that helped me was pretty mono tone. She we there to grab orders and that's it. Not much interaction.
I ordered the #5 today. It's the GTB.BLT on a garlic bagel. Opening the box, this bagel looked beautiful! Fresh crisp lettuce, pretty red tomatoes, thick pieces of bacon. Some of the poblano cream cheese was poppin out of the center hole. It all looked delicious! The veggies were so fresh, the bacon was salty and crispy. The poblano cream cheese had a slight heat to it. It all married so good togther! The bagel, which is the main star of the show was so hard. It was rich in garlic and golden in color from toasting. As lovely as it looked, it honestly was so hard I stopped eating it after a couple bites. Such a bummer cause it looked so good!
I'm happy I got to try it out! It was a good bagel sammy despite of how hard the bagel was. I look forward to coming back and trying something else. Hopefully next time my sammy will...
Read moreThey don't have a huge variety of bagels. What they do have are the basics. Their Everything bagels looked dark. The bagels' draw is they're dipped in honey water & wood-fired. Get there early or you'll run the risk of them running out.
Service was ... almost standoffish, matter of fact. Our questions were either met with robotic precision, as if reciting a manual, or reluctant disinterest.
Before leaving, I noticed one cookie in the display case. Intrigued, I asked what it was. A server replied, "A cookie," forcing me to then ask, "What kind?" She couldn't be bothered to tell me. Just said to read the sign far left of the cookie. My husband asks all the time at other places instead of reading signs or menus, & servers always accommodate him without attitude.
Not sure I want to go back.
They didn't act like they wanted to sell...
Read moreGood Montreal style bagels though I personally prefer NY style. My guess is the owners spent time in California where Montreal style is king, but anyone from the eastern part of the US like me is probably more into NY style. Nice selection of adult beverages and coffee. Since I prefer a less dense bagel I found it challenging to bite through the everything bagel in egg sandwich form. However when cut open with cream cheese if was fine. I was slightly disappointed that the onion bagel had dried onion pieces mixed into the dough instead of on the exterior like the poppy or everything. It was an interesting choice on how to make that bagel but I just prefer the topped version. Overall very good and I am glad Boise has some hip flare...
