Stayed for 2 nights while in Boise for a wedding. We had eaten at the bar years ago and enjoyed the vibe so thought we'd try out the hotel. ||The two women who greeted us at the reception at check in were amazing--warm and welcoming. It was a great start. ||My husband and I had a room with a door facing the parking lot and our son and his girlfriend had a room on the interior--both on the first floor. The rooms were spare but stylish and well designed with good use of all the space. We did not find street noise or other guest noise to be an issue at all. The housekeeping staff was prompt and left the room spotless.||We asked for a fridge and a microwave when we made the reservation and those were waiting for us in our rooms.||We had drinks and snacks at the bar both nights. Drinks were 20% off for hotel guests during happy hour (4:30-6:30). The cocktails were creative and tasty. The food was great too--we had the calamari, the kale caesar and the bread/olive/pickle plate. ||There is a complimentary breakfast that was solid as well. I enjoyed the frittatas and the yogurt with granola and fresh fruit and jam.||The servers at the bar were also warm and friendly like the folks at the front desk.||The location is great--it's downtown but a bit removed from the rowdy young people bar seen about a half mile away but still within walking distance of great shops. We tried various fried foods at Fanci Freeze and soft serve at Soft Landing and loved both places which were a short walking distance from the Modern. The neighborhood felt safe for us to walk around in even after dark. It's also right off the freeway so easy to hop on and off to get to other areas of Boise. And just a 10 minute drive from the airport.||For anyone looking for a small hotel/motel with a funky downtown vibe at a reasonable price, I highly recommend staying...
Read moreI need first able to quick intro my self: I was a executive chef for over 20 years graduated from culinary school in Mexico city and Vancouver Canada... It's my pleasure to express my happiness that I give positive reviews with 5 stars to many places and restaurants. But only one here in Boise to the Modern Hotel I can say it's excepcional, wonderful and amazing at the same time. The chef Kelly who is my friend now after my second visit last night with my wife to celebrate father's day, chef Kelly came over to our table to express his happiness and he brings the best of him and his culinary bold flavor knowledge, his wife as a restaurant manager they are the perfect couple to deliver this experience in service and friendly attention. Chef Kelly's dishes are always the best experience here in Boise, they are many restaurants around this area loaded of luxury but NONE have the flavor of chef Kelly's dishes. If you are looking for a difference in flavor, presentation and service, get out of the ordinary and come over to the Modern Hotel, to have a Modern experience, his dishes are very creative, contemporary and bold, my wife and I we love to celebrate here the most important dates for us including our anniversary. Chef Kelly, his wife and our exceptional service delivered from Austin Amaro are the perfect team to make our evening the best experience ever. Thank you guys for all your hard work and dedication and making me stop from...
Read moreThis hotel exceeded my expectations. A mid-century modern motel coverted from a Travelodge. It still looks like a Travelodge but with a funky vibe. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was better than most hotels I've stayed in -- the dial to turn it on is located on the side of the stall -- genius! I received a goody bag upon arrival with some essentials and a local snack. Continental breakfast every morning sustained me until indulging on any of the delicious local restaurants in town. I also enjoyed using the complimentary bicycle that comes with a helmet and a lock. The hotel is on the edge of downtown by two blocks so the bike was useful to get to the opposite end; otherwise, just a twenty minute walk to the zoo and merely 7 to get to the heart of the city. The good news is, it's closest to the Balloon Festival and you can see them from the hotel unobstructed -- the hotels downtown have taller buildings that block the colorful view. ||You don't stay here for luxury but for the customer service. Daniel and Tiffany were great! Always ready to chat and offer suggestions. Max was a good server and the dinner was unique and delicious. I sat on the patio which is in our own private courtyard.||Another nice perk is Channel 39 has winning short movies. ||I loved Boise and felt very comfortable in the city and this hotel. It is the talk of the town. You don't want to miss out...
