The Tortilla Factory ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently visited The Tortilla factory in Boise for the first time. It was late in the evening and I hadn’t had anything to eat that day except for an English muffin, so I was starving. I ordered the following:
Fish Taco ($4.25) - They use catfish for their fish tacos. Wrapped in a homemade tortilla that was thick and chewy, it was delicious! Next time I’ll try the shrimp taco.
Chile Rellano (5.25) - Holy goodness! This was quite possibly the best Chile Rellano I have ever had. I cannot tell you how much willpower it took to refrain from going back to get another one the next day. But that won’t stop me from going back sometime next week. LOL. Seriously though, it was spectacular!
Small Taco Salad ($7.75) - I love that their salads are available in two different sizes. After wolfing down the fish taco and Chile Rellano, I was pretty full and not able to polish off the salad but I made a good dent in it and I ate the rest the next day for breakfast. You get to choose what kind of meat and beans you want. I went with the shredded beef and pinto beans. I got the Avocado Ranch dressing which was delicious. The salad was outstanding! It was packed full of yummy ingredients and topped with the freshest chopped lettuce and tomatoes. Can’t wait to order this again too. Next time I’ll try a different meat/bean combo.
Flan ($4.25) - The texture of the flan was thicker/firmer than any I’ve had before but the flavor was very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again. But next time I’m going to try the corn cake dessert.
One of my menu items must’ve come with two small flour tortillas which was an unexpected bonus. I eat them the next day with a little cheese melted in them, rolled up. I’m telling you, there’s nothing like the flavor and texture of homemade tortillas. These were delicious!
I love that many of the menu items are available à la carte, which is how I like to order so I can try a wide variety of menu items.
The service was excellent! Aldo did a great job of answering all of my questions and helping me figure out what to order. The young woman preparing my food was very kind and accommodating.
I like that this business is conveniently located near the Boise Costco. I regret that this was first time visiting this wonderful family owned business, but I plan to make up for lost time by frequenting it as much as possible in the future. I consider this one of my favorite “new to me” restaurants for 2022.
This business does catering and they’re currently offering $10 off of a $50 catering order. That’s a heck of a deal! If anyone’s considering a Mexican themed get together in the near future, $10 off or not, I would recommend you consider having The Tortilla Factory do your catering.

Read moreI really hate to write negative reviews especially because, I think positivity goes a long way on a Monday however, I have to be honest. my first clue that I should have not eaten here was that the place was so quiet and I mean, suspiciously, quiet as in, even the music was turned off when I walked in. after a few minutes, the cashier acknowledged me and she took my order and here are a few things I got in my thoughts on them. steak quesadilla tasted more like hamburger meat, and it’s tortilla that claim to be homemade however, tortilla was still doughy and raw in the middle, which led me to believe, that they microwaved it, and while this would not have been as big of a deal to me, I had to take a bite before, noticing that the tortilla was wrong due to me being visually impaired, and not being able to see firsthand when a restaurant serves me how the food is presented. I even put some top of hot sauce. They had on the table, but somehow, the food still managed to be flavorless which I thought was impossible, but I guess, you learned something every day because the tortilla factory approved me wrong. on the side, I ordered rice and beans, and these tasted like they came from a can and furthermore, the beans were dripping, which led me to think, that the cook hadn’t drained the can all the way. I also ordered two Barbacoa tacos as I had heard that these were the best thing when ordering from the tortilla factory. wow that tortilla was slightly better on these, the meat tasted like the kind of frozen pork products you might find at your average grocery store shelf at a Winco. I will say, the one thing that was good was the Mexican soda and a glass bottle but, I don’t think even the worst restaurants can mess that up can they? I really hope that today was just a fluke however, I think it would be a while before I went back there and less, I found myself in that general vicinity in which case, I may consider trying this place again and updating my review if it’s any better. because nowadays, in order to get me to go out to eat, the restaurant really has to be exceptional just because, due to being on disability, and having a fixed income, I have to really determine whether the cost of an Uber as well as the meal itself is worth it and sadly, tortilla factory was not it at...
Read moreOverall excellent dining in after ordering at the counter and general seating sort of a hybrid experience between fast food and full service restaurant as they have table attendant go around and visit tables and check to see that everything is going well with everybody's meal and prices give fast food a run for its money at the same time as the food rating gourmet Mexican equivalent. If there was such a thing LOL also notably masks are not enforced except for employees which does filter their smiles yet makes one Wonder if masks are not a good idea for food servers in any case and I'm not a proponent of mask wearing otherwise I'm against them since day one but also the distancing of the eating area for the tables does make for a better Comfort level in public irregardless of the erroneous idea that there is any such thing as a pandemic virus going around. The social distancing guidelines that affect a public dining room just happened make for a more comfortable public dining room instead of a cramped and crowded one with too many tables and chairs all but bumping together and the rear ends of strangers squeezing by you at face level to get back and forth to their tables so the 6ft distance requirement has ended up eliminating some discomfort issues of public dining rooms that existed before the hoax pandemic economic collapse bailout scam but thankfully the effort to destroy small businesses in order to funnel everybody's money to all the big box Corporation stores who were allowed to remain essentially open did not successfully run small businesses like this...
