The atmosphere definitely needs address as far as the seating layout is concerned. Half of the restaurant has benches that are all connected in a flowing curved configuration, and then the rectangular tables are scooted up to those benches at odd angles. This arrangement sometimes makes it hard to slide out from the bench seat, squeeze between your table and the other diner's tables. Another issue on the same side of the restaurant is the large windows that have no window coverings. In the late afternoon, early evening, the sun shines brightly through the windows, blinding the guests from being able to see each other at their own table. Sometimes the glare is so bad, It reflects off the tables making looking down at their own food plate difficult and unpleasant.
10/14/24 My husband and I came to Tucanos to celebrate his 65th birthday. We come here about 4 times a year and know that usually the first time or two around, the servers make small talk asking how we like our meat cooked. I always say well done on all beef and never see my request come to fruition, so I usually have the chicken, turkey, and pork. On this day, Irma came by our table on the first round, and I passed on the beef she had, telling her I like my beef more done. Irma said what I felt was the obligatory comment of, I will let the cook know, and bring you some meat that is more cooked. I have heard this many times and didn't give it another thought, which is why, I was absolutely blown away when, a short time later, Irma came to our table, with her pan, skewer, and knife. On her skewer was 2 pieces of well done beef! I was elated that Irma took my request to heart, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude. The appreciation I felt went beyond the well done beef. Irma listening, and following through with what she said she would do, meant I, as a person mattered. It was apparent to me that Irma loves what she does, and cares about the quality of service she provides. Irma is a wonderful server, and I am truly...
Read moreIt was a bit misleading. The meat they bring out is a small piece of meat that is sitting on the skewer over the heat getting more and more dry. Then they shave off small pieces for your plate. If the whole skewer is not served it goes back on over the heat to dry out some more. Every piece of meat I had was dry- like trying to eat chalk. They also had two options for fish, salmon or what they said was pollock, a white fish. The white fish was brought out in a serving bowl, it was a breaded and deep fried fish- but was not cooked completely and was greasey and gross- I had to ask for it three times before they even actually brought some out. You pay $30 per person for their full buffet, (or whatever they call it). The salad bar part of it is very limited, they do have some hot food options as well but they are pre-made heat and serve dishes. You would think that for $30 per person it would include your non-alcoholic beverage and a dessert, but no it did not. If your wanting beverages and a dessert you can figure another $30 per person.
Leaving the restaurant was also an adventure. There were about 50 to 75 people jammed into the entranceway you had to try and get thru, like trying to get thru a herd of cattle or a flick of stupid sheep that don't of sense enough to move- shouting excuse me and the people couldn't or didn't even move. Maybe have another exit out for customers that have finished their meal. The hostesses offered no help staying behind the desk just shouting out names over and over again.
All in all, very disappointed and not worth the trip and for sure...
