Spoon House did it again! I have been going to spoon house since 1995.
Every time I bring a friend or a family member, no matter where they are from, they all loved spoon house and said will return again. I recently brought my sister who was visiting from Taiwan and her family there. Guess what? They liked it and we did go back again on the way to the airport.
Their freshly baked bread ๐ฅ was always perfect, crunch in the outside and soft in the middle.
The one dollar salad I ordered back in 1995 is still an one dollar salad, even after COVID inflation, amazing! I do appreciate they try to keep the salad simple and the price the same. This way, I can enjoy the salad and still have the room in my stomach and my wallet to enjoy more food and drinks.
I looooove their ice tea! They have syrup at each table for the tea. I know, too much sugar is not good for you but I just love it especially with the thin sliced of ๐. The iced cold tea, with a hint of lemon and perfectly mixed sugar on a hot summer day is absolutely perfect.
The problem I have each time when I visit was the decisions, decisions and decisions. After the amazing churchy crusted bread, the delicious ice tea, and the tasty salad, I only have so much room for a main course but I have a few favorites there. The decision was always hard.
I like the open kitchen setting! You can see the staff as they preparing your dishes. I love seeding whatโs been prepared and served. But, that also could cause problems in the future! I want to try more dishes!!!!!
The staff was very friendly and service was quick. They are quick on refilling the drinks or water. The chefs are also very nice and their skills are mad!
Our go to dishes are: No. 1 Meat sauce with the variations of eggs and bacon or Weinger. No. 4 clam sauce (they have other variations too but I enjoy the standard one) Hot garlic, it may looks plain with the peppers but it packs with flavors. Shrimp, vegetables, and ๐ฅ bacon (with bacon well done) Spaghetti omelet with bacon, and yes, well done.
I didnโt take any pictures this time because I was too hungry but you can find plenty of pictures from my past reviews or from other reviews. There are no shortage of the deliciousness from...
ย ย ย Read moreOkay, first things first: Spoon House is small. Like, cozy-small. So, yeah, it gets packed during lunch and dinner. But trust me, it's worth the squeeze. It's got this warm, inviting vibe, like you're eating at a friend's really talented chef's house.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the spaghetti. And specifically, the Bolognese. Oh. My. Goodness. It's the kind of Bolognese that makes you close your eyes and savor every single bite. Rich, hearty, and just plain delicious. I'm a big fan of adding a soft-boiled egg and bacon to mine. It's like a flavor upgrade that takes it to another level. And the best part? My 7-year-old son absolutely loves it too. Finding a place where we both agree on something is a rare and beautiful thing.
My wife, on the other hand, usually goes for the clam and spinach with cream sauce. And let me tell you, it's just as good. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It's clear they use fresh ingredients and know how to make them shine.
But here's the thing that really sets Spoon House apart: the little touches. Like the fresh baguette you can buy to take home. It's the perfect complement to any meal, and it's a testament to their commitment to quality. And let's not forget the $1 salad! Seriously, where else can you get a fresh, tasty salad for a buck? It's an absolute steal and a perfect way to add a bit of green to your meal without breaking the bank.
Spoon House isn't your typical restaurant. It's got this unique Japanese twist that makes it truly special. It's a place where you can get a comforting bowl of Bolognese, a flavorful clam and spinach pasta, and even a fresh baguette to go. It's a place where you can feel at home, even when it's packed.
If you're looking for a delicious, unique, and cozy dining experience in Gardena, Spoon House is a must-try. Just be prepared to wait a little during peak hours. But trust me, the wait is worth it. You'll leave with a full belly, a happy heart, and maybe even a fresh baguette for later. You know,...

One thing to note about Spoon House is that it always draws a crowd, resulting in a waiting line. However, this is a testament to its popularity and the exceptional dining experience it offers. Despite the wait, we eagerly anticipate our turn, knowing that the reward will be well worth it.
During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of savoring three outstanding dishes: the Bolognese Meatball, Carbonara, and Japanese Style Cod Roe and Butter Sauce (tarako). Each dish showcased exceptional flavors and left us craving for more. The Bolognese Meatball boasted a rich and robust tomato-based sauce, while the Carbonara delighted our taste buds with its creamy and indulgent combination of eggs, cheese, and bacon. The Japanese Style Cod Roe and Butter Sauce added a unique twist, offering a delightful fusion of flavors that was both savory and satisfying.
To complement the main dishes, Spoon House serves a fabulous baguette as a prelude to the culinary feast. The crusty exterior and soft, fluffy interior of the baguette provided the perfect accompaniment to the flavorful sauces, enhancing the overall dining experience.
