Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Garfield Township

My grandma had sent me two gift cards for $50 each for Christmas, so decided to stop in since I was in town. The restaurant itself is typical Applebee's. It looks a bit outdated. Kind of dingy as well. Myself, as well as the person I was with both ordered the Ribeye steak. Sadly the steak kind of tastes and looks like it's that man made, glued together kind. It definitely is not quality steak for the price you are paying. The appetizer tray is delicious. The manager was walking around checking on tables which was nice. The waitress seemed nice, although we had to ask another waitress for refills a couple of times. When it was time to pay I gave the waitress the two gift cards to pay with. She brought back the receipt that showed I had $30 and some change left on one of them. I stuck it back in my wallet and took out cash for the tip and left it on the table. Sadly last night I went online to check my gift card to see exactly how much was left on it as I'm driving through Traverse City today, and see that the waitress helped herself to an extra $15 tip. I was in a bit of a hurry, and I did not bring the receipt off the table so I guess that was my mistake. I didn't even know you could tip from a gift card, so like I said, I left cash. I don't remember her name, or even what she looked like. But still I do not think this was a kind or honest thing for her to do. I am a generous tipper. I understand that people work for tips, and have bill's and families. But I don't feel like she deserved such a large tip, especially after having to stop other waitresses to keep our drinks full. Have come here a few times for lunch. Food is usually pretty good but this last time my steak tasted odd. It wasn't the seasoning but the meat itself that was off. They had a few large groups so I didn't want to make it difficult for the server and let it be. I got a side of the mac and cheese with bacon and the bacon was VERY lacking... usually it's the perfect amount but I'm assuming they were at the bottom of the bag and only had the tiny crumbs left. We also got a sandwich that comes with fries and a pop but we never received the pop but were still charged for it. We had gotten some waters to start so it wasn't a big deal, and it was the lunch rush so we were being patient. Our waters were low and our server came over and asked if we wanted refills - yes please! I think we waited another 5-10min for them to come and our server was nowhere to be seen - maybe she was taking a break but we were almost finished with the food when the refills came so at that point they were unnecessary. I believe the manager was hovering over her the entire time as he was kind of just there. I think she was nervous because her demeanor changed when he was behind her. I've been here a few times and tonight will most likely be the last time I go to this location. Got in with less than a 5 minute wait and that was the only good thing about our visit. Waitress was rude, slow, and had no idea what she was doing. We waited over 25 minutes to get our appetizer and our food. The couples behind my partner and behind me got in at the same time as us and they both got their appetizers before us. We were really disappointed and about to leave after that till the manager finally walked out our ap. Then seconds later our food came. Guess what, our food was cold. It was gross. Between the time our waitress delivered the other couples items it was 25 minutes later we got everything so I'm positive she just left our food sitting. I never caught her name cause she never told us let alone checked on us. We didn't get any offers for refills till we were done eating. It wasn't even busy and there were more than enough waitresses there. My partner and I were there for over 2 hours. Coulda gotten a pizza faster with better customer service.
