Let me start by saying I had never been to SnowBelt until I saw it mentioned in the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians' newspaper. As a fellow tribal member, I thought it would be awesome to support both a tribal member AND a local establishment. With the being said, we had been to Snowbelt numerous times over the past few months because we enjoy the rotating brews as well as the great food... I brought other family members here- talking it up about how awesome it was that a fellow tribal member was involved in this establishment.
During our last visit, considering how many times we had been there recently, my husband and I were curious about the obvious Mug Club after we saw the rows of mugs near the bar. I asked one of the servers if I could have some sort of flyer or if he could give me some more information about the club. That is when he told me it was "highly exclusive" and "for LOCALS only" after I mentioned to him that we are in fact locals, he could not even bother to look up from the computer at the bar to acknowledge me.
Even if I was not a local, does that make my business less worthy?
Let me add I was born and raised here- and live about 10 minutes from downtown- so I hope that fits the criteria for a "LOCAL".
Super disappointed in how we were treated- we...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing the reviews. After our experience, I am highly shocked that this place gets any more than maybe one or two stars. The service was very slow. The beer was flat and warm and the food was just processed frozen food that they heated up. We got the Rachel they were out of the spicy slaw, which is what would make the sandwich and didn’t bother to tell us until the sandwich was delivered after we had already waited almost an hour. The quesadilla was Velveeta cheese, frozen diced up chicken, if that’s what you wanna call it, and the quesadilla wasn’t even grilled or crispy. The pretzels were just the cheap frozen ones from the grocery store and some canned cheese. The grilled cheese was like a dinner size roll. It wasn’t even a proper sandwich and a small ramekin of soup. This place was very underwhelming. The food was just processed garbage. It wasn’t even good food for the price, they should charge about half of what they charge because they didn’t even actually cook anything. It’s all frozen food. I’d hate to see what the brisket is like cause there’s no way that was fresh cooked in the house if they can’t even make chicken, which is easy to do. This place is such a disappointment. I would not waste my time...
Read moreA really chill (pun) brewery in downtown Gaylord.
We came for dinner and drinks and ended up making friends with a couple at the table next to us.
The beers we had were great. They were out of the sour ale, which was what we were most looking forward too, but it happens.
The enish brown ale, stout and porter were amazing. The red and the seltzer were pretty average but not bad by any means.
The food was awesome. We had the Greek nachos, which is just a pita / gyro with apin dip service like nachos. It was phenomenal. We also ordered their version of a crunch wrap, but with brisket. It was also out of this world.
The only real blemish was the service. Our waiter wasn't friendly at all and displayed no personality other than impatient and rude. However it was semi busy and I think he was the lone waitier so I don't want to dock too much off the joint for it. It was just the only thing that kept it from being a perfect evening.
Otherwise, I highly recommend Snowbelt. Awesome...
