Absolutely terrible service. I went there on a Friday looking for new ski boots. I was there for a long time before anyone even acknowledged me. After measuring my foot the owner said he was going to the basement to get some boots. I waited over 15 minutes and he did not return. He was behind the counter chatting with someone. Sounded like they were talking about buying cars. I finally got up and started to walk out. He said he forgot about me and apologized so I decided to give him a second chance. He then kept forgetting what size I was. When he went to get a different size of one particular boot he came back with something completely different. He never said anything about what he was supposed to be retrieving. He then brought out a pair of used boots. He said that knew they were $600 boots and would sell them for $300. They fit well. I trusted what he said about the cost of them new and purchased them for $300. When I got home I looked up the boots to learn about the features and was upset to find the same brand and style of boots brand new and in a newer model for $280 at numerous stores. The following Tuesday I drove 133 miles back to the store. I calmly told the employee that I had an issue and came back to give them a chance to “make things right.” She said the man who sold me the boots was unavailable but called his wife, the other owner, and gave me the phone to speak with her. The very first thing she said, in a very accusatory manner, was “You better be nice to my employee.” When I explained that after seeing these boots brand new and in a newer year model all over the internet for less than they charged for used boots she became even ruder, asking why I bought them at a shop if I was just going to look them up on the internet. I told her I was just trying to learn about the features. I asked for either a reduced price or a refund. She refused to lower the price and told me to just buy them online. She then asked, but again in a very rude and accusatory tone, whether I wore the boots and “got them all sweaty.” In the end I did get a refund. I would steer clear of this place. Instead I would recommend Boyne Country Sports, which is where I ended up buying the boots brand new for $280 at the Traverse City store. The next day I took my boots and skis to the Boyne Country Sports in Petosky. (When I purchased the boots the prior night it was close to closing time so I didn’t want to ask them to check my bindings.) The Petosky shop readjusted my bindings free of charge since the newer model boots had a slightly longer...
Read moreHusband, wife and pup too! These guys were so great! My (young) kids and I stopped in to check out this shop "tourist style" as we took a little lunch walk through downtown Gaylord last week as we had just arrived for a mini up north vacation. I didn't need any bicycle maintenance, I wasn't shopping for a bike.. But I know where I'd go!! These two were so sweet and welcoming! After a chat we found ourselves stocked with locals advice on orv trails, day trips and special happenings around town.. restaurants too!! How cool?! Especially for me and my family who are new to the area. Finding the good stuff is the (key)best!! They were friendly to my little ones, which was everything to me!! They had a clean shop with great Michigan gear, outdoors and beach like attire. Snagged my new favorite tee from them!! Super soft and cozyyy! And of course we love the pup!!! Their dog is so sweet!!! ♡ And btw the trails were Awesome!! Thankx Guys!! And Good Luck!! We'll...
Read moreWhat an outstanding group to work with! Have purchased several awesome articles of clothing and outdoor gear here over the years - their clothing is very high quality and great outdoor brands. Plus they have a satellite location in Otsego Club (has anything you need for the mountain).
When coming into town from out of state and needing ski rentals, we found out that White Birch handles that, it was flawless and a no-brainer. Nice new rentals, same prices, didn't have to mess around with long rental line waits and crumby equipment from the resorts, and was just able to swing through downtown Gaylord and grab them on our way to whatever resort we wanted. Only 25 minutes to Boyne and about 4 minutes away from Otsego Club.
Thanks again guys! Such...
