I only give them 2 stars because my boyfriend said “Wonton Tacos are amazing!” So he was happy with his meal. Also, the French Onion soup didn’t look good, not a traditional way to put it, but it actually was pretty tasty and had good flavor. I however was not happy with my meal… I got Mac & Cheese with brisket. I was expecting nice chunks of brisket… instead I got a few end shaved pieces. $19 for that. Rubbery tasting. Gross. The Mac & cheese itself, was cold as ice and also was bland. Absolutely no flavor. If my server was attentive she would have checked to see I wasn’t happy. Not once did she check on us. We waited probably 6-7 mins before she even got our drink orders. I’m a server myself so I understand when it’s busy, but at the time we went it wasn’t. When she got more tables she was very attentive to them though… This was our first time trying this place also. I did see a lot of people order the pot pie which was my 2nd choice. So in my experience, I’m going to give this place one more try but honestly I’m not expecting too much…

White chicken chili and 1/2 a smoked brisket dip with Swiss. Onion rings as an appetizer. North woods black cherry and wild bill’s root beer. Reviewing the menu, pricing, and comment I had high expectations for this restaurant. The onion rings were nothing special, but were perfectly cooked! The White chicken chili was clear out of a can/box/bag and as such was so-so. A house made version that is not as bland, could have aligned with my expectations. For the price tag it was ok but nothing that would bring me back. The Brisket and onions on the sandwich were bland. They tasted as if the had been soaked in water the reheated to remove moisture. The bread was the best part of the sandwich but could not make up for the lack of flavor from the sandwich fillings. Both sodas were carbonated correctly, but tasted watered down. Both tasted promising, Without ice or with a stronger mix, they may have been outstanding.

I have loved the Alpine for years. Their burger has been something I looked forward to on my trips up north. BUT….this last trip will keep me from returning. For starters, the hostess was very unprofessional and he took about 15 mins to seat us after running around to update his chart. There were 5 tables of people in the whole restaurant….To add to this, our Buffalo chicken dip was inedible. The components were 100% separated and it tasted like rotten cheese. The presentation used to be outstanding, but this time they served us a small cup straight out of the microwave that smelled rancid. My amazing burger that I long for every trip up, was now the size of a kids burger. Normally I would eat half and take half. This one was so small, and NOT worth $15. This was very disappointing. The restaurant used to be something I wanted to travel for, and now the service and the food were absolutely appalling. FOODIES BEWARE!!

One word describes our experience, "perfection". We ordered the Shrimp Wanton Tacos with Cottage Cheese, Atlantic Cod with Sweet Potato Fries & Onion Rings, and lastly the Kids Pizza with Pepperoni and a "Rock Candy Kiddy Cocktail". All of the fried food was completely void of grease as well as not having an oily flavor. All of the original flavors shined through. The shrimp Wanton Tacos reminded us of a "real" version of the Applebee's Wanton Tacos. The sauce and apple slaw paired perfectly with the heaping mound of included shrimp. The Wanton itself was perfectly crisped. The Cottage Cheese was the correct consistency and very fresh. The Atlantic Cod was lightly fried and also devoid of grease often found inside fried fish. You could tell the Cod was as fresh as you could get it here in Michigan. The sweet potato fries tasted like sweet potato in the best way possible, they paired well with honey mustard to make a sweet tasting side. The onion rings were crispy and contained onions that were not too thick or thin and tasted sweet and did not leave an onion taste. The rings paired amazingly with the house made ranch. My son devoured his kids pizza, and he is a picky eater. It appeared to be pan cooked. The cocktail was a fun treat that was also enjoyed by my son. We will definitely be...

We had our family Christmas lunch, i dud not choose this location, and we were limited to food we could order because we had 15 or more people. We were told it was to make it easier on the kitchen staff, so clearly not there for the customer. My fish looked like it was left over, them dipped in even more batter and fried again, it was so chewy and heavily battered. The fries were barely warm and really chewy, also like they were leftover and cooked again. So the limited menu obviously did not help the kitchen staff and it wasn't even busy in there. No other staffwould help our waitress, so I ended up have to clear dirty dishes from our table. This place has really gone down hill in the last year or so. Do not recommend.

Went for dinner today, it was not good at all. The place is going downhill. Won't be back.

We were the first people in the door when it opened. Got our drinks and appetizer fast, waited a while for our meals, were told they just opened and were doing prep. Uh, that should be done before you open. Then, my friend paid with cash and only got bills back in change, when she asked where the coin change was, we were told they don't keep loose change there, so they just keep your money. Pretty sure that's theft. Would have been different if we had been informed of this...

Wow...just wow. Passing through town on our travels, my husband and I stayed the night in Gaylord, and chose Alpine Tavern to pick up food. What I though would just be standard bar fare turned out to be so much more. The kind woman who took our order over the phone asked only for my first name and said she didn't need a phone or credit card number which made us feel like we'd stumbled onto a real hometown in America, the likes of which barely exist anymore. When I went in to pick up the order I had to wait a few minutes. There was a musician playing guitar and singing; while his talent was obvious, it was his interaction with the patrons that I appreciated the most. I listened as he spoke about his music and how he chose songs and where to play. Once back at our hotel with the food, we were shocked how good everything was, every item far exceeding our expectations. The fried pickles spears were perfectly crispy and served with a delicious, creamy sauce. The brisket grilled cheese with brie and bacon jam was a delightful combination of flavors. The beer-battered perch were perfectly cooked. We also had a Cobb salad which included fresh, quality ingredients. We will be passing through again I'm sure and this will definitely be on our list of stops! It should be on...
