Before about 9 months ago this place was great.
Up until that point, the restaurant appeared clean and the atmosphere was lively and warm. The food was always cooked very well, the pizza was particularly delicious, and this was a reliable place to take the family that provided fast and courteous service without breaking your wallet.
However, my family's last two visits (which were prior to the COVID crisis) were a stark departure from this notion.
I discovered that the wait staff had suddenly became incompetent and unattentive. Our food, which normally would come out around 20 minutes after ordering, took about 70 minutes.
While waiting for the food our waitress seemingly disappeared. I had to repeatedly get the attention of other wait staff passing by to get a simple refill on water.
The restaurant itself had visible grime and dirt along the baseboards of the walls. The wait staff's station behind the bar (plainly visible to the public walking to the restroom) was disheveled, dirty, and disorganized.
The men's restroom was in disarray; dirty paper towels were all over the floor, standing water was covering the counters, and a pool of urine was collecting underneath the urinals.
When the food arrived at the table we found that half of our orders were wrong. Items were missing altogether and small requested changes to the dish were ignored. Separate orders were both undercooked or overcooked.
I asked to speak with the manager to express my concerns and did so: he was polite and understanding but made no effort to compensate for our negative experience.
He informed me at that time that the location had several staff recently quit and that it was under new management. Having worked in the industry myself, it was plainly obvious to me that there was a significant employee morale issue at the restaurant causing the customers to suffer.
I went back to the restaurant one more time a few months later to see if they had got their "ducks in a row" but it was the same story. This place is in dire need of new management, a deep clean, and more professional wait staff.
Please let me know if, and when, such changes occur. I'm dying to eat at the "old" Aubree's; what used to be one of the best places to eat in Howell (which already suffers from a lack of solid options).
Thank you.
Disclaimer: I haven't been here in ~6 months, so possible recent changes are not reflected in this review. My last visit was roughly 2 months before everything shut down. I'm finally getting around to this because, like everyone else, I've...
Read moreThis is the only place I will go and eat during these uncertain times. I have never been before today and I can honestly say, Iâm a happy customer and will be back. GET THE FIREHOUSE BURGER! It is the perfect blend of heat and flavor! Iâm not a chili guy so I asked for none and asked for bacon instead. My servers name was Holly and she was one of the nicest waitresses I have ever had. I really hope Aubrees does something for the staff here, considering the world we live in. Everyone was happy, everyone was in good spirits and even while the staff was wearing masks, you could tell they were happy and smiling. Sure, weâre going through changes in the world. But going to this establishment makes you feel okay about it all. It really felt like seeing old friends. Honestly, I had 0 expectations. But this place BLEW MY MIND. Iâm a burger guy. It is my favorite food ever. I have written corporate and I have sent out a tweet and now Iâm on to Yelp! Give this place a chance. You wonât regret it. Ask for Holly! Get the firehouse burger and enjoy a night out. Have some drinks and relax. Trust me when I tell you, Aubrees stands out as one of the greatest places I have ever eaten at. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I just hope Aubrees sees my reviews and does something for the staff that were there tonight. Everyone was working hard, maintaining cleanliness and super friendly. Sure, times are different. Yeah, thereâs gonna be some adjusting. But Aubrees feels more welcoming than just a restaurant. Youâll forget for a moment that the world has changed. The servers will look out for you and they will be smiling under those masks. The food was beyond perfection. If you havenât been here before, now more than ever you need to try it. Thank you Holly and everyone that worked tonight at Aubrees in Howell, MI. I will be back for that...
Read moreHello my name is Russell Black. I took my girlfriend to the Howell location on December fourth for her birthday. we waited for about a half hour to be seated with open tables being visible. we both knew what we wanted when the server came to greet us. she ordered a burger and I ordered fish and chips. we waited at least a half hour for our food. as soon as it came I put in a order for a carryout burger. my fish was clod to the touch and the cooks thought that putting it on hot French fries would make me think other wise. I told the server that I wanted to speak to the manager. I told him that it was cold and he said that he would have it remade I informed him that this was the third time in a row that I had got cold food after waiting at least a half hour. they remade it the only problem was it took another half hour and by the time it came my girlfriend had been done eating for 15 minutes. I waited a hour for the carry out burger and when it came it was also cold and it wasn't as ordered it had no lettuce or onions.my girlfriend also got food poisoning and was up vomiting from five in the morning and it continued all day. I posted a review, instead of the owner contacting me he didn't like what I posted so he contacted google and had the review removed. I was a regular customer and dined here at least five times a month and have been a patron of aubrees since I was in my early twenties and was going the depot town location. I am really disappointed with the service and the way the owner chose to handle it contacting google so people couldn't see the review instead of trying to make it...
