Reservations for our family of 8 at 5.30 pm on Saturday 3 weeks ago. The place already was packed. We immediately were seated at our table. Unfortunately, it was in the bar, with March madness basketball on every screen and no one watching. Salads are ala carte; an additional $2.50. Skip the caesar salad. It was miniscule and anemic. We actually sent one back as the portion was so ridiculously small to be charged any amount additional to an $18.00 entree. My house salad was fantastic-fresh and very flavorful. Well-worth the charge. Actually, one of the best salads I have had in a restaurant in years. Only 2 of our 8 entree orders were correct, but with the kitchen running 45 minutes behind, we sucked it up and took what we had. Two of the noodle dishes- a chicken alfredo and a red sauce pasta both were lukewarm to cold when served. My chicken parmesan was hot, but burned on the bottom and overcooked. I had a few bites and took the rest home. I tried to reheat it, but it was so dry to begin with that it was inedible by the time it heated through. Big disappointment since I am by no means a picky eater! Only half of our table received bread, we asked again after our salads were served and it managed to arrive with the entrees. The bar was so noisy that conversation at the table was limited to those directly beside or in front of you. Two couples at the bar (in our direct line of vision) were inebriated and well past needing "to get a room". At least the kids had a good time making fun of them. Yuck. Several of us took dessert "to go" since lingering for a cup of coffee with the din was unappealing. Of course, the order was wrong again, but fixing it was a simple request to the Manager and a quick turn around. The NY style cheesecake was very good, with a graham cracker crust and nicely browned. I had them put some chocolate and raspberry sauce on top (picture posted) The chocolate sauce was on the bitter side, but I like dark chocolate. The raspberry was ok. Both tasted like they were from the cake decorating store. A fresh raspberry or strawberry topping on this delight would draw me on the regular for cheesecake takeout! The cannoli was as good as I remembered. My son loved his tiramasu, after having had a delicious stromboli that easily could feed two. Overall, I have to say I was not impressed except for our server. She made knowledgeable menu recommendations, handled our group of 8 and several other tables quite efficiently, refilled drinks rather quickly, and was very good-natured. She was a diamond in a sea of broken glass. The kitchen, on the other hand was beyond struggling. Having dined here in the past, I was a little embarrased for having suggested that we meet for here for dinner. Perhaps I will go back with my husband on any day but a Saturday, but half of our Italian family party of 8 definitively stated that they would not be back. We were very surprised by our experience as this restaurant always looks packed any time we drive by it. Maybe this day was an anomoly, but how hard is it to serve a hot pasta dish or not overcook a one quarter inch piece of...
Read moreMy family ordered pizza and stromboli for take out this evening and when we got home we noticed the cheese stromboli we had ordered for a vegetarian had pepperoni. No big deal, it's a busy Friday and mistakes happen. When we called the store the person on the phone didn't seem to have any idea how to resolve the issue and took down our phone number and said they would escalate it to a manager. Well that clearly didn't happen because after nearly an hour we never got a call back. After several attempts to call back and resolve the mixup we were either hung up on or given the run around, never being able to talk to someone in charge that could actually help. Again, I get that it's a busy Friday evening, but when you have multiple dedicated people in charge of taking care of takeout orders and answering the phone you'd expect something like this to boil down to, "Oh yeah our bad, we'll remake that and you can pick it up."
I truly hate to play the "We've been coming here for years" card but this place has seriously gone down hill in terms of service. Every year it seems to get worse. I've been saying this to the folks but the food is adequate so they'll look the other way, especially for an establishment we've been going to since I was a kid. The last time we even sat down to eat here we had to ask at least 4 different people to get a water refill because our waiter just completely disappeared. Absolutely nobody could help us because it wasn't their problem.
So essentially tonight we were scammed out of 20+ dollars because whoever answered the phone couldn't be bothered to escalate an issue to their manager. I'm so incredibly sick of being treated like trash by a restaurant that has the audacity to charge the prices they do for decent food and abysmal service. There's no way you can blame the actual servers or hosts though. This absolutely stems from management that nobody is willing to talk to as they can't be bothered to make sure their customers are taken care of. I really miss the days when you guys were in the old location across the street and didn't try to rely solely on your name and fake fancy atmosphere to trick people into thinking you're upscale dining. Read moreThis was our first time here and will definitely be our last! Don’t let the authentic Italian look and feel of the building and inside atmosphere fool you, the food is anything but authentic! New York born and bred so I’m definitely familiar with good Italian and this DOES NOT fit the bill at all! I ordered the House Combo Platter so I could try multiple things…had ravioli, gnocchi, one each of sausage and a meatball and spaghetti which I asked for Alfredo sauce on to give that a try too. Well first, a side salad does not come with any dinners, gotta order and pay extra for that. We didn’t get any bread or offered any so we just assumed that it was not an offering here until the table next to us got some! When we asked why we didn’t get any she said because you have to request it! Well how the heck were we supposed to know being first timers! She should have offered it! The food came out fairly quickly so I suppose that was a positive (or 🚩perhaps?!?). The sausage was just like a quarter piece of a sausage, not a whole sausage just a small piece and unremarkable at best! Thought I’d try the alfredo……it was awful!! I mean, something was wrong with it, like it was missing main ingredients!! Tasted like watered down milk! Absolutely no buttery cheesy flavor! On to the gnocchi….pretty much smushy and flavorless! The meatball tasted like it came out of the freezer from a prepackaged bag definitely not like homemade! The ravioli with red sauce was the best thing on the plate and nothing exceptional. When the waitress came back to see if I wanted to pack up what was left I politely declined and said it was not good at all and I wouldn’t take it home! She sent the manager over who was nice enough but didn’t seem to hear what I was saying🤷🏻♀️ Took 6 bucks off the bill so I suppose that was something! Really was looking forward to what I thought would be some good Italian food but was thoroughly...
