My wife and I went to Fava’s for the first time this afternoon. It being Mother’s Day, they were super busy and had no tables available. A very nice gentleman let us know there was a bench outside if we wanted to wait and apologized for any inconvenience. We weren’t in any rush and it was a beautiful day, so we waited maybe 5-10 minutes and enjoyed the view of Georgetown’s Main St. a table opened up and we were notified. Everyone on staff was so polite from start to finish. We got our drinks when a table of six came in looking to be seated. We were asked if we would mind moving, which was no hassle, so we happily obliged. The same gentleman that was already apologetic about the wait told us we could each have pie on the house, which was already very gracious for what felt like small, if at all, inconveniences. We ordered two meals and the pretzels and beer cheese appetizer. Even with a packed house it only took a few minutes for the food to start rolling out to us. My wife and I commented on how flavorful the beer cheese was and before we knew it we had our food. Everything was delicious. I had a pretty basic order of chicken strips and fries and my wife had the open-faced roast beef. The chicken was lightly battered, flavorful, and crisp. My wife loved every bit of her order. We received our free pie at the end, one chocolate and one butterscotch. Absolutely wonderful. She was actually starting to leave a good review at that point because of how great the food was along with the staff being so friendly with us and everyone around us; but her phone died. We started to head to pay our check and our server let us know that the meal was comped due to the wait and moving tables. The gentleman that helped us in the beginning and checked on our experience a couple times throughout let us know that he didn’t want to charge for a subpar experience and thanked us for coming in today. Everything was already so pleasant to us, we were blown away. We will absolutely be returning, frequently. We can’t wait to try...
Read moreA short drive up the interstate took Fat Man Reviews to Fava's Restaurant in Georgetown, KY. Fava's Restaurant is a family owned restaurant that has been around since 1910. They serve southern plates and desserts.
We started with the Frickles. The pickles were hamburger chip cut, they were lightly breaded and fried to an amazing crunch. They were served with homemade ranch, which was some of the best that I have ever had.
I also tried the Chili. It was made with hamburger, beans, onions, tomatoes and juice. It was a thick and hearty dish but was not spicy at all. Furthermore, it was a good stick to your rib's chili, I really enjoyed it.
My fiancé tried the Soup & 1/2 Sandwich, which came as a whole sandwich. She had the special of the day, Vegetable Beef and upgraded to a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was on white(wheat, Texas toast, Rye and a hoagie is an option), came with cheddar and Swiss. It was grilled to perfection and the cheese was melted and gooey. The soup was made with vegetables out of a can and hamburger, not a roast as I have typically seen. Again this was a hearty, thick dish that had been cooked all day and the flavors had married together. It reminded me more of a burgoo than a soup, but it was delicious.
I tried the Award Winning Catfish, with homemade tartar sauce, hush puppies and fries. The fries were cooked to a golden crunchiness, the cornmeal hush puppies were as well. The catfish was served in nuggets, cornmeal breaded and fried to perfection. The fish was moist and flaky, and the creamy slightly sweet tartar sauce was great as well. I can see how it is award-winning.

Read moreHello everyone! I normally do not try to leave a bad review. Especially for the small family owned or just the local non franchise restaurants. I really prefer local local stars of the community. I travel a lot and I generally seek out this kind of establishment.
But... I ordered a meal from Fava through DoorDash.
I ordered a ribeye sandwich and potato chips.
The ribeye sandwich included a ribeye steak a bun and the potato chips. No offer of mayonnaise or anything else on the sandwich.
I added (My own) mayonnaise and fresh ground pink sea salt and Indian peppercorn. Which was my own. Still not much taste.
The bun was much too sweet. At least for me. A steak sandwich in my opinion should be not sweet. Unless it is barbecue. (Just my opinion)
I had a few choices for a side of fries, potato chips and a few other choices. Being that I ordered from DoorDash for delivery in experience has been that fries are soggy when they arrive. So I decided on chips. I assumed a bag of Lay's or something. Fava apparently makes their own homemade potato chips. Good idea if you are in their restaurant. But instead they put their chips in the same container that my sandwich was in. So when they arrived they were limp and looked like they were dipped in a bowl of water.
Summary:
Ribeye sandwich: C- Potato Chips (Delivery): F I didn't eat them. Straight to the garbage after the first one.
I apologize for...
