Spotz Gelato — Restaurant in Georgetown

I was so excited to try this place, and the gelato was amazing, but our great experience was diminished by the shop’s smell. I wish I could bottle it and share it on this review. Maybe it was mildew? Mold? Some industrial cleaning chemicals? There was an old-looking wooden bench along the perimeter of the store, and I wondered if maybe parts of it were rotting? Anyway, it was a strong, unpleasant smell. Maybe the place needs mold mitigation, or some air purifiers, or a deep clean, but it was really unappetizing. Despite the smell, we stayed an ordered (I had the kids with me and they would’ve been devastated if we left.😣) The girls got mint chocolate chip gelato with gummy bears (what a child selection!), and they really liked it. It was creamy and fresh and the chocolate chips were just the right consistency. The portions were large, and it was fairly priced. I got a sparkler drink, which was cola and flavoring and gelato and whipped cream, and it was fancy and delicious and amazing! Would definitely get it again if I decide to brave the...

First of all, i’m gonna start this review off by saying the workers at the truck on the 16th at the Georgetown downtown event we’re fantastic considering the circumstances there management we’re putting them under. I had asked the girls that had to have been under 18 about the melted ice cream on the counter, on there arms, and the ice cream I received, etc. They were very apologetic and had explained how there was no a/c and no RUNNING WATER which was crazy considering washing hands in food processing is a standard. Mind you these girls were working for awhile I had seen the truck downtown till I left and it was over 80 degrees with no air. As a business this is unacceptable and accountability needs to be taken and this should’ve been fixed and seen as embarrassing to have your ice cream come out melted. Went to this place about a week ago, and have just got around to writing a review. The shop was very cute, I loved the decor on the inside.

It had benches to set down, and small tables to set at as well. Bathrooms are available, didnt see how big they are so unsure if there is space for mobility aids or strollers, but bathrooms are available none the less.

The flavor I got was very very tasty. I cant recall the name, but when I visit again I'm hoping the name will register, and I can get the same wonderful taste.

Worker also helped me and my family with directions when we were trying to figure out which way to get to the zen garden we wanted to visit. Which I still appreciate a lot!

Over all this is a place I'm definitely coming back to as the atmosphere and taste of the gelato was top tier....
