We've eaten here and ordered takeout several times and will return. PROS: This is by far the BEST Fried Shrimp & fried chicken I've ever had anywhere! The shrimp are big, perfectly cooked and the batter is crispy, crunchy and flavorful without overpowering the shrimp. The batter is NOT a tempura batter, which is a nice change to many seafood restaurants. Whether you choose to dip shrimp in tarter, cocktail or boom boom sauce they're all a compliment. The honey mustard served with the chicken is good, but nothing to rave about. The onion rings and calamari have the same batter as the chicken and shrimp but I'll say again the batter is FANTASTIC! The hush puppies are a MUST try! They're small, with a touch of sweetness and great full flavor. The coleslaw is a little inconsistent but when made correctly it has flavor, spice and sweetness, but not overly sweet (most of the time but sometimes it's way too sweet). The crab legs with juicy sauce (mild) has a good spice, and a good punch of heat so if you don't like spicy I'd recommend the very mild. CONS: My main complaint is forgetting to give sauces when I get takeout and they only give you ONE SAUCE for each order and even then they mess it up! So CHECK your SAUCES when you pickup an order. This is an ongoing problem! When they charge you for every single sauce it should be correct. For example, this time I ordered tarter, cocktail and honey mustard on my takeout order and I got 3 honey mustard. The last time we ordered I BOUGHT 5 extra tartar and 3 extra cocktail sauces, but only got ONE! It's particularly annoying when you get home and have ZERO tartar and cocktail sauces for shrimp!! When eating in the servers tend to stand around chatting more than working when you're eating in and the takeout employees just seriously slack when packing the orders, like including NOT INCLUDING UTENSILS (not everyone is going home). If we need to ask for them then you need include an option for them when I place a pickup it delivery order (I DO NOT recommend delivery unless you're ok with warning it in the oven because everything fried...
Read moreWe visited The Juicy Crab in Austell around 6:30 pm on a Wednesday, and while the food was good, the experience was incredibly frustrating due to poor service and even worse management.
There was only one waitress handling five or six tables inside and a bartender working the outside area. These were the only two staff members I saw, aside from a quick glimpse of someone in the kitchen. Thatâs a setup for disaster in any restaurant, especially one that serves messy, hands-on food like crab.
My parents were already seated and had drinks when I arrived. I ordered a sweet tea and didnât get it for at least 15 minutesâafter the oysters came out. Asked for horseradish and was told they donât have any. In a seafood restaurant that serves oysters, thatâs just bizarre. We waited another five minutes for cocktail sauce, during which I had to physically get up and ask the bartender for forks. She handed me a bucket with forks, gloves, bibsâthings that should already be at the table.
The oysters were good but really missed the horseradish. When our crab meals arrived, they tasted great, but the service continued to drag. I asked for melted butter and crab crackers. The butter took about eight minutes and the crackers even longer. By the time I cracked most of my crab by hand, the food was cold. I canât enjoy crab without butter, and this definitely took away from the meal.
The waitress was polite, but clearly overwhelmed and kept forgetting things. I donât blame her for being swamped with so many tablesâthis is entirely a management issue. It felt like they set her up to fail, and we were left to deal with the fallout. She did suck, but mostly because they put her in an impossible situation.
Overall, we spent about 30 extra minutes there just waiting on service. The food was good, but the disorganized, understaffed mess of it all made this a one-star experience. Do...
Read moreVery unpleasant experience, I usually go to the juicy crab on Hiram, but this time me and my boyfriend decided to go to the Austell location. For starters the server Shana seemed to be almost annoyed with us but we gave her the benefit of the doubt and maybe she was having a bad day, but after just setting our items down without saying a word and maybe checking up once, she seemed bothered. Other guests who were next to us had a total different experience and we noticed she was treating them much more politely. Either way we enjoyed our meal, but as we were handed the bill I noticed and extra 18% gratuity was charged but we assumed maybe because we were in a different locations they did things differently. On the way back I felt something was strange so I called my Hiram location and they told me that a charge like that would only be added if we were a party of 6 or had a huge bill. Our bill was only about $60 before the extra 10 was added. I was a bit confused so I went ahead and called the Austell location and spoke to a young girl on the phone who told me the same exact thing, I went ahead and went back to the restaurant only to be told I didn't call the right store even though I showed them the call log of their phone number. Shana was their also and said they charge 18% on Sunday so that's why we got charged which I felt like if that was the case was not explained properly, after that she asked if I just wanted the tip we left on the table back. Overall was a weird experience and felt we were being discriminated and charged extra because they didn't think we were going to tip. I'll just stick to the...
