The fluorescent lights of Applebee's hummed, casting a sickly yellow glow on the faux-wood tables. It was a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was sparsely populated, yet an air of palpable unease hung in the atmosphere. My friend Sarah and I had chosen this establishment for a casual dinner, a decision we would soon regret.
It began with the service, or rather, the lack thereof. Our server, a young man with a visible disinterest in his job, took nearly fifteen minutes to acknowledge our presence. When he finally did arrive, his greeting was a mumbled, "Whaddya want?" rather than the customary, "Welcome to Applebee's." We ordered our meals, two of the restaurant's "signature" entrees, and settled in for what we hoped would be a brief respite from the day's stresses.
Our hopes were quickly dashed. After an interminable wait, our food arrived, and it was immediately apparent that something was amiss. Sarah's steak, ordered medium-rare, was a hockey puck of overcooked, charred meat. My "Four-Cheese Mac & Cheese" was a congealed mass of lukewarm pasta and a suspiciously neon-orange substance that barely resembled cheese. We attempted to flag down our server, but he seemed to have vanished into some hidden corner of the restaurant.
When he finally reappeared, his response to our complaints was a dismissive shrug. "That's how it comes," he stated, offering no apology or attempt to rectify the situation. We pressed the issue, explaining that the food was inedible, but he remained unmoved. Eventually, after much insistence, he begrudgingly agreed to take the dishes back to the kitchen.
Another lengthy wait ensued, and when our "replacement" dishes arrived, they were hardly an improvement. Sarah's second steak was marginally less overcooked, but still dry and flavorless. My mac and cheese appeared to be the same congealed mess, perhaps with a slightly higher temperature. At this point, our hunger had waned, replaced by a growing sense of frustration and disgust.
The final blow came with the bill. Not only were we charged for the uneaten, unsatisfactory meals, but our server had also added an extra appetizer that we had never ordered. When we pointed out the error, he sighed dramatically, as if we were inconveniencing him with our petty concerns. It took another fifteen minutes and the intervention of what appeared to be the manager to finally get the bill corrected.
We left Applebee's that night with a profound sense of disappointment. What should have been a simple, enjoyable meal had devolved into a comedy of errors, marked by terrible service, inedible food, and a general feeling of being utterly disregarded as customers. The experience was a stark reminder that sometimes, even the most ubiquitous chain restaurants can deliver an experience that is nothing short of a culinary nightmare. The fluorescent lights and the lingering taste of artificial cheese would haunt my dining experiences for a long...

The worst management and customer service in HISTORY!. I been coming to this establishment for at almost 3 years and honestly this place has gone down the drain! I took my family from Florida here for lunch. First RED FLAG was when I seen the overall score for this establishment was down to "87"... We were seated by the bar in a booth, which was not clean and had a smell. I did advise I would like to move to a high top table. I did not realize the HOST was the BARTENDER daughter and her Brother was also sitting at the bar as well picking his teeth and enjoying free items at his leisure. The bartender advise she would be getting our server. We waited over almost 15 minutes and no one came. I observed the bartender and her children looking and smiling as we sat there without service . As I observed more, the daughter previously seated us in her mother section and when we moved, apparently that did not sit well with them. After sitting for nearly 20 minutes, we decided to leave and I requested a manager to express my concerns. I spoke with Patrick (General Manager) who honestly was non-apologetic and seem unbothered. I advised of why the young man behind the bar touching items and in the kitchen bring out items and not be in work attire. Frank advised that was the son of the bartender who is a former employee. Whaaaaaaat?????? With COVID-19 and other possible bacteria that could cause customers to get sick.. your telling me a former employee's can eat and go in the kitchen, and touch items and this is ok????? OMG!!!! While talking with Patrick (General Manager) I observed the bartender and her two ADULT Children laughing and smiling. This is so DISGUSTING and UNACCEPTABLE! Health department needs to get involved! Customers need to be protected from this NEGLIGENCE at all cost. I will be posting on all social platforms for...
Read moreTook my mother here for a late lunch 23Sep22 at about 145pm EST, we were sat quickly, and 'El' (short for Elliot we were informed) introduced herself as our server. Our seeet teas and 1st serving of unlimited boneless wings were brought in an appropriate amount of time. Refills for drinks and wings had to be made by hunting 'El' down again as she never returned to even ask us how things were going. Eating buffalo wings in hot sauce should be a basic indicator to serving staff to keep an eye on drinks and napkin needs; neither was done. After 15 minutes of no drink for me, I had to ask another employee, appeared to be a manager as she was better dressed and appeared to be paying a little more attention to her surroundings, to send our server or help us. She readily asked about our concerns, but it took another 5+ minutes for anything to show up, which was 'El' asking us if we needed anything. My requirements are not difficult, do not let my drink be empty, and if it does get that low, be responsive and attentive in short order so it does not remain empty long. 'EL' FAILED the basic requirement. She got a tip, but it would have been 3x what she received had she been attentive; a small thing some would say, but actions have consequences. The food quality was less than or equal to, an elementary school prepared chicken nugget meal. While I was not surprised, I was disappointed in the quality of the returned AYCE BONELESS CHICKEN WINGS offer. Flat-out was not worth the $12.99, fries included, price tag. It has been more than 10 years since I set foot inside an Applebee's as a paying customer, and it will likely be much longer than that before I return. Good luck staying in Biz, but it will not be...
