Went there for birthday dinner. Chips are cut corn tortillas, way too thick. Used to be ok for Mex restaurants 30 - 40 years ago, not in present day. A taco corn shell is good with the thicker tortilla, not good for chips. The salsa was ok, medium, flavor was ok. When I go to a new Mex restaurant I always get 1 cheese and 1 chix enchilada. 1 chix taco with a cooked corn tortilla (crunchy). 1 Chile Relleno, cheese only no meats. Rice only unless I have great confidence with the answer to the question "Are your refried beans cooked with lard?" Ordered rice only. 1 grande regular margarita, light salt. I usually order 2 flour tortillas with butter (side), add light salt and pepper - didn't this time. I believe the above order lets you know if they know how to cook Mex food and is their food good.
Margarita -Very good! Yay!! Chix enchilada - small and the cheese tasted really weird. Fail. Cheese enchilada - small and the cheese tasted weird. Fail. Chix taco - right size, chix was good, cheese tasted weird. Fail. Chile Relleno - cheese tasted really weird, sauce was ok, pepper was ok. Fail. Rice - fluffy, well seasoned (added salsa to it), cooked correctly. Good. Yay!! All food was served hot - Yay!! The margarita rim was lightly salted -Yay!! Again! Music was on the loud side, my son would have asked to go some place else. Service was quick and polite. Prices were reasonable. We went to this place because of my birthday, and my daughter's bf really likes it. I prefer the Mex restaurant right next to it. But, give credit where due, this place's margaritas really are better!...
Read moreThe food was NOT good AT ALL ordered a kid's burger and solecito platter(plate whatever is called) First of all they got my drink wrong, I order guayaba and got Jamaica...... The food was brought to us and the first thing I tried were the frijoles charros .... Y'all..... They were so bad and watery , the chicken and the nopal were super dry and thin I almost lost them in the plate!!! My kid barely touched his burger and fries and that's saying something....once we were done TASTING the food we were done eating. Our plates were pushed to the side and we waited for a waitress to return so we could ask for the check, that took at least 15 minutes in a place were there were 4 tables occupied and 2 of those were right next to us.... Once we did get the check we noticed a "3 cc - fee" included which she later explained was a credit card fee after I asked ... We paid cash and were not charged the fee, however it again took my husband motioning the waitress over after 5-10 more minutes. If you're still here please let me recommend a much better restaurant about 3 minutes down called La Tecampana.
Also special mention, the table behind us sent their food back TWICE...... Left 2 star for atmosphere only because it looked like they just expanded the...
Read moreI caution anyone considering El Solecito due to my recent troubling experience. After placing a carryout order I wrote a $0 tip with a line through it and signed the merchant copy receipt. The pending charge on my card was the exact amount I paid but then I later discovered a $10 increase in the charged amount once it cleared my bank.
Attempting to address this, I visited the restaurant twice to speak with a manager about the discrepancy. On both occasions, the manager was conveniently absent, and the original signed receipt couldn't be located. Instead, I was offered cash by the workers there, which only raised more suspicions.
I strongly advise customers to monitor their bank statements closely after...
