Sometimes things escalate for the stupidest reasons.
Today we went to Cumberland Mall âs food court during a break in my daughterâs pageant to get lunch. After getting the kids their food, I went to get something for myself.
I decided to get a falafel gyro and went to Gyro Wrap for it. When it was my turn to order, I had a simple request: âIâd like to get a falafel gyro and can I get feta cheese added to it?
The guy taking my order said, âNo, I donât think you can do thatâ. Then looked at his manager (whose name is Paula) and asked if they can. Keep in mind he mumbled the entire time so it was hard to understand what he was saying. Paula, the manager, came over and started showing him how to type up the order and then walked away. He finished and my $7-8 sandwich went up to almost $15.
For cheese.
I said, âwait, is that total correct? The price went up that high for feta cheese?â
He said, âYes, you ordered the philly cheese on top of the falafelâ. As in, a Philly cheese steak on top of a falafel gyro. Which is just weird.
I said, âno, I asked for feta cheeseâ.
This is where things went left.
He caught an attitude, raised his voice, and then said âNO, YOU ORDERED THE FALAFEL WITH PHILLY CHEESE.â
Up until this moment I was polite. You arenât going to raise your voice at me under any circumstances - especially not over a dumb instance of miscommunication.
I answered, âLook, all you had to do was say âsorry for the mix upâ and fix the order instead of getting an attitude with me. Letâs go ahead and cancel this order, Iâll go someplace elseâ.
Then Paula came over and said, âsir, you can get that, letâs fix it.â At the same time the dude who took my order was speaking over her saying âI DIDNâT GET AN ATTITUDE WITH YOU!â
I said, âyes, you did. You arenât going to force me to get something that I donât want. I said I wanted feta, not âphillyâ, F-E-T-A.â
At that point, Paula changed her tune and got loud also, âHE DIDNâT GET NO ATTITUDE! YOU ARE THE ONE WITH THE ATTITUDE SIR! SO WE ARE NOT GOING TO SERVE YOU!â
And she told the dude to cancel my order. I didnât even turn around and cuss them out, I went ahead and got food somewhere else. Why would I give them my hard earned money? Hell, Iâm definitely not going to convince or force someone to take my money.
Now the next part is the ultimate reason for my post. I was already going to make calls and lodge complaints with the main business and the mall itself, but now I need to let everyone know not to patronize this business at all.
After this incident, I kept it moving, ate, spent time with my family, etc. At one point I got up and walked over to see what stores were just past the food court.
I had to walk past Gyro Wrap to do this.
As I walked by, I heard the dude I dealt with yelling, âHOW ARE YOU TODAY SIR? WAIT, NOT YOU, NEVER MIND!!â I never even looked his way and wasnât sure he was talking to me until I heard that last part.
I still kept it moving JUST in case he really wasnât speaking to me and I heard the other employees laughing.
Later, when leaving the mall, I had to walk back by Gyro Wrap again and this time I had my 4 year old son and my mother with me.
The dude yelled the same âhow are you today...â question at me with the whole ânever mindâ part again.
And the employees, including the manager, Paula, started laughing.
I knew at that point that they were heckling me while with my son. I was about to lose my cool when I thought about my son and also the fact that he had no idea what was going on. He was just being a 4 year old walking and holding his daddyâs hand. So I didnât want to bring attention to him as to what was going on.
If you are in the Atlanta area, do not patronize this business at all. The entire staff that was working at 2:30pm on Friday, July 6 was...
Read moreWatch out! Not Great Wraps at Cumberland Mall! Now Gyro Wraps at Cumberland Mall. Like the store in Buford, the wrap was okay, but this time the fries, not curly fries, were only okay.
I bought the Santa Fe chicken with curly fries in Buford GA. I thought the wrap was okay, but I loved the curly fries! So I the next day, I went to what I thought was my local Great Wraps at Cumberland Mall to buy the Santa Fe chicken with curly fries again. BUT to my great disappointment, they did not have the curly fries with a variety of flavored seasoning salts because they were no longer Great Wraps!
They had some season salt with no named flavor. The employee apologized and said they do not have the Cajun seasoned salt. I didnât want Cajun seasoned salt! I wanted a variety of seasoned salts.
The Cumberland Mall store is now Gyro Wraps. They bought out the Great Wraps location.
So watch out! Make sure you are at the...
Read moreThis review is for Gyro Wraps & Wings at Cumberland Mall (apparently the name changed at some point). I ordered the Original Gyro sandwich (no sides) and it was very disappointing. The meat had been pre-cut and and was dry and cold. The flavor of the sandwich was poor. Not satisfying. I know it's a mall food court, but If Gyro Wraps is your name... you should be able to serve a decent Gyro Wrap. This was a total bust. The only positive thing I can say is that the employees were friendly. If I'm paying to eat out, I expect it to be good... even at the mall food court. ...
