Not a very good experience. We were planning on going to Mellow Mushroom, but they were slammed. Looked for an alternative when we found this place. The quality of pizza depending where you go is always unpredictable, but I went in to this place with an open mind. It was my wife, my 3 and 6 year old girls and me. 1st thing I noticed is that the temperature inside the restaurant was no different than outside, and and it was a hot day. Hence, the relaxation factor was cut into due to that issue. The waitress was pleasant and relatively attentive for the duration of the experience. For drinks it was root beer for the rest of the family and water for me, until I was informed that they had Octoberfest on tap. BOOM! Unfortunately, the beer got warm pretty quickly and was 8 bucks a pop. For the food, chicken strips and fries for the kids, a pepperoni pizza for the wife. I was about to order a calzone, until I saw the limited menu that included the infusion of hot honey on the dishes. I use hot honey on a weekly basis for dishes I cook at home, so I was immediately drawn to the selections they had on that menu. The Hawaiian pizza with the hot honey sounded amazing. After consulting the waitress regarding the feedback on the menu selection, I ordered that, and added grilled chicken as an additional topping. The food came out staggered, but not ridiculously so. The kids seemed to like the chicken strips, but didn't devour the fries, which is unusual for them. I snuck 2 fries out of the 3 year old's basket just to try. JEEZ they were salty. My lips puckered up like tree bark within 90 seconds of sampling them. My wife said the pepperoni pizza was OK. I snatched the first piece of my pizza off the pizza pan, just to put it back after 2 bites. I immediately noticed that the chicken topping was composed of little tiny shreds of chicken. That may have changed as I would have gotten further into the pizza, but that didn't happen. The pizza was spicy, but that's kind of it. There was very little taste in the pizza itself. Whether that was due to the level of heat blocking any taste or lack of quality toppings remains a mystery to me. What was most disappointing is that there was ZERO sweetness in the flavor. As I mentioned previously, I cook with hot honey pretty regularly. The balance of heat vs. sweetness in hot honey is about 25% heat, 75% sweetness. The honey should have combined wonderfully with the savory flavors of the pizza. I didn't get any of that. Not even a note of honey in there. Fortunately, the waitress didn't give me a hard time about saying it was terrible, and asked if I wanted something else instead. So I ordered the Calzone that I was originally going to order. I didn't want to make my family wait any longer than we had to while it was as warm as it was, so I got it to go. I was surprised that a manager didnt come over to address the issue i had with my food. We did get charged over three bucks for a soda that was supposed to come with the kids meal. I didnt make a stink about it, as I was more interested in leaving. After getting home I had my calzone. It was very doughy. Usually they are crispy on the outside to some degree. This was not. Most accurate rating I can give it was an 'ok'. Overall it definitely was not worth the money, and I'm guessing there are significantly better choices...
Read moreI just ordered from Johnny's New York style pizza in Cumming. I guess just is a bit of an exaggeration because I first ordered my food at 5:18 in the evening. I didn't end up receiving my food until 7:20. the first thing that I did was go into my doordash app and request to speak with one of their representatives since they were the delivery driver. Then I called Johnny's. Usually whenever you speak to someone and you say "look, I don't want to make a big deal about this however is this was my experience". They are at the very least receptus to what it is that you're saying and do what they can to protect the reputation of the restaurant. Because unfortunately whenever you have a delivery driver taking your food they become an extension for the face of your company. Whenever a customer receives your food 2 hours late and the food that they received is cold at the end of the day it is still your food.
I called down and spoke with a younger gentleman. He said that my food have been prepared and the doordash delivery driver picked it up at 6:30. Proceeded to tell me that they had prepared the food when it was ordered and didn't call the delivery driver to come pick it up until an hour and 10 minutes later. I wanted to clarify with the gentleman I was speaking with and I asked him "what I am hearing you say is that this is all doordash is fault and you guys have nothing to do with it. Is that correct?" He responded "yea".
I told him that I was surprised to hear him say it because at the end of the day it was his food and his restaurant's reputation, and he asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. I told him that I was looking to him to see where the issue was so I can speak to the responsible party and he said hold on a moment. after about a minute or two of speaking with the manager of this restaurant she came back to tell me my manager agreed it's all doordash is fault we had nothing to do with it.
I send my name, my number, and my credit card information to this institution in order to receive food hopefully warm. And the best concession they could come up with is "Not Our Problem".
I'm sure their food is good normally. And I'm sure that if you go to the restaurant itself that you could have a pleasant experience. What I am saying is that both the manager and the gentleman I spoke with lack of maturity of how to properly represent a business. That is unfortunate for Johnny's New York style...
Read moreMy 2 stars is overeating this all out disaster. We used to order from Roswell Road/Sandy Springs once a week. We moved here, think Keith Bridge is OK and have liked this location best of all.
Tonight was an embarrassment and we'll never return. We arrived about 5:30 and the only cars there were ours. Not a soul in the place other than 4 staff members. This remained the case throughout our time there. From best we could tell, there were no to go orders at all.
Anyhow, we ordered 4 sodas, garlic knots and a large meat lovers. The coke order was changed to a water because it was flat. We were charged for it just the same.
Nearly 30 minutes later the knots arrived followed by the pizza 2 minutes later. Our large pizza was stretched slightly bigger than a medium, was not cooked on the bottom (was too thick) and had virtually no sauce at all....all which was agreed on upon inspection of the waitress.
Her only solution was she could bring us extra sauce.....really?
We each had a bite or 2 of a slice and asked for a box for the rest. The young lady proceeds to bring us a small box. I asked if she thought it would fit in there and she said it would -we would just have to stack it in the box. I asked if we could maybe have a larger box and she reluctantly agreed. She couldn't reach it. She finally used another box to "coach" it down. I guess that explains the hard selling of the small box.
Again, no one else in the restaurant but our drinks were not refilled or an offer made to do so - not once.
We decided to go here because my daughter and I both wanted cannolli. The box selling waitress never asked if we wanted anything else so I took us all to Bruster's for ice cream instead.
She did take 2 bucks off a $25 pizza since we didn't eat it. Atleast tomorrow I could add sauce and cook it properly and maybe it will be ok....not a total loss.
A suggestion for the owner. Please read the rest of my reviews. 98% of them are positive. My dad owned a restaurant and my daughter and son in law worked at Taco Mac for many years (parking lot for this was packed when we left....so was Golden Coral, btw). Suggestion - if you want to take Sundays off and can't put a capable manager on duty - just close on Sundays vs. destroying...
