I will never patronize this business again. Today was a prime example of why I don't jump on the bandwagon "Support black owned business". I was apart of the "Dine Advantage" program and Karens International Caribbean food offered a BOGO $5 complimentary lunch. I called ahead to place the order for the special as well as ordered additional meals. Again we are talking about $5. Once I arrived. I separated the orders to apply the discount and the cashier was not aware of how to process it so she went and got the owner, Karen. Karen comes to the counter, I show her the voucher, she says she doesn't know what that is, that she didn't sign up for anything, that there are a lot of fake profiles but it's not her. I explained that it's a legitimate program, I've used it at Bradley's BBQ, Whistle Tavern and Creamberrys with absolutely no problem and decided to try her today. Aggressively, this black business owner told me that it's not her and she wasn't going to honor it and walked off. She then came back and said the only program she's apart of is the Entertainment program for discounts. I said no worries I will contact them.

Entertainment has agreements on record for every merchant that lists an offer in the Dining Advantage program, including the merchant's specified Terms & Conditions and expiration/renewal terms. Within the process of creating the offer, the business is responsible for identifying the discount, providing any necessary logos/graphics (including menus), bar codes (if needed), coupon codes (if needed) and any applicable limitations (i.e., fine print). Those merchants also receive training materials and contact information for our internal support team. We are sorry that their involvement in the Dining Advantage program was portrayed as it was.
Please know that issues like these are not common, and we do take complaints like these very seriously. Per theOffer Rules of Usefor the Dining Advantage program, "Entertainment, and/or its parent or subsidiaries, will not be responsible if any establishment breaches its contract or refuses to accept the coupons/mobile offers; however, it will attempt to secure compliance." Entertainment will reach out to this merchant to investigate this matter and we will try to resolve it as quickly as possible.
We have issued a refund of $5 back to the credit that was utilized to obtain the voucher.}}

I come here alot and every time the customer service just got worse & today I’ve had more than enough! I will not be returning here at all. I ordered Jerk chicken NOT CURRY CHICKEN, I get inside the cashier is already rude so I continue to order and think maybe he is having a bad day… Ok Understandable, but No he was just flat out rude. I just said you know what I’m not going to be rude so I explained to him that, that is not what I ordered and he starts getting loud and aggressive as if that is what I ordered. So I said ok cool maybe someone in the back pissed him off so I said fine I’ll just take it since its already made. Before I left he said he didn’t want to get in trouble for putting the wrong order and I said “ it’s fine, can I have some Ranch “ He Says “ it’s $1 and 7 cents I said ok here is the dollar but I don’t have 7 cents I can pay on my card . He then says “ I just gave you back your money give me the dollar “ I was like ugh ok and gave him the dollar . He looks at me and says “ do you want your change “ if I give you money yes I want my change ! So I leave unhappy but I’ve worked in customer Service and I know how annoying customers can get so I chose to be nice about everything . I get to my car and open the bag because it smells really bad and I almost threw up from the smell ! I tell myself ok I just paid $18 for this let me Atleast try it . So I tried it a literally threw up outside! I call the restaurant in their parking lot in front of their building and said “ hey, I’m not trying to be rude but I really don’t like this Curry Chicken “ again I ORDERED JERK CHICKEN ! The guy passes the phone to a woman and I explain to her the same . She said to me “ just because you don’t like the food doesn’t mean I have to give you your money back “ I explained to her that it was nasty and smelled really bad she then asks if I’ve been there before and I told her “ yes” because true enough I just brought food from there yesterday but because the customer service is so bad I Doordash it . She says “ ok since you eat here I’ll give you a piece of chicken this time but just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean I have to give you your money back do you understand me “ I’m thinking to myself do she think I’m her child ?! So I call my mom on the phone and tell her so I can be calm when I walk inside I hear them whispering talking about me in the back then the cashier came and gave me the chicken and I just walked out ! This has to be the worst customer service I have ever experienced in all my years of living ! The CURRY chicken was mushy & the JERK chicken was Burnt and tough, the cabbage was soggy & disgusting the only think that was good was the rice and on top of everything I had hair in my food but everybody had attitudes . Read moreI am an author and when I'm in the area I like to link up with my sorority sister or just hang with my wife enjoying Karen's. On Thursday night we decided to dine in. It was around 7ish. BAD decision! I tend to only drink water...the water they served us tasted like dirty sink water. My sorority sister and wife ordered shrimp egg rolls...They were unusually greasy but yet we persisted...our entrees came out BEFORE their appetizers and my salad...the salad dressing came in packets that were covered with some sticky red substance. No napkins could be found. Yet, we persisted bc the food is typically amazing (we usually order take out). The straw for me , aside for having to seek out our waiter when we were the only patrons dining in, was the fact that when I reached for an egg roll I immediately saw a long black strand of hair dangling from the fold of the roll. I called the waiter over and advised that I wanted to make him aware of the hair in my food (we'd already boxed up everything else to leave out of disgust for our unsatisfactory meal). His response... "Well, what do you want me to do?" My response... a smile and an exit because customer service is devoid at this establishment. I was gracious and thanked him for everything all evening despite my displeasure with what we received by way of food and service. I started this review off by stating my profession because I could have been anybody...a food critic, a reporter, a health inspector, a city official...you never know WHO will walk through your doors. I believe EVERYONE who spends a dime at your establishment should be treated with the best customer service you have to offer. I have spent hundreds at Karen's in the past year in passing because that's how much I've enjoyed the food. But I dare not spend another dime in a place that cares not about my health safety or satisfaction. My next book may just feature a character being offed by the unsanitary food consumed here!...
