After dropping the teenager off at a dance nearby the wife and after looking at other nearby possibilities decided on the Evan's T-Bonz. I have eaten at the Augusta location a few times before, and it has always been just ok...I was hoping that maybe Evan's would be better, it was not. The food here is ok, and the service on this particular night was average. First we did not have a reservation so on a busy Friday night we had a typical 45 minute wait...expected. they called us up and asked if a high top would be ok to which they laughed and said oh you will like it you will have a good view of the TV's. We weren't there to watch t and I should have walked at this point but we were hungry so we took the high top. Well they were not lying about the view...we were right under the large projection TV...and right beside a makeshift bussing station, had to contend with the busboy squeezing in behind us several times during the entire meal. Oh did I mention right under the air vent. Nice and cold. Our waitress approached, took our drink orders and asked about an app. We declined and she said she would be right back with our drink and some bread. It took a while for those to arrive, and when they did,an appoligy for the delay, and she would be right back to take our order. I went to get a slice of bread and it was cold. Not room temp, but cold. At this point I was hungry enough to not care and buttered some up. My wife declined. Now if it was supposed to be cold then good job...but if it was supposed to be warm then fail. The waitress finally got back to take our order, now the place was packed,so we understand a little delay, and this was just to the outer edge of that expectation. Quite frankly it was long enough between visits from our waitress that if I had any cash I would have dropped a 10 on the table to cover the drinks and bread and we would have gone and grabbed a burger...but I didn't...gave my last cash to the kid as we dropped him off earlier so only plastic so we stayed and she took our order...a porterhouse for me and a New York for the wife...both mid rare. When. They came out I cut into mine to check for doneness and it was close, more med than mid rare, but close enough. The wife's was the same, closer to med,and as not being a thick cut to begin with, mid rare would be hard to hit spot on. The steaks were ok,nothing great but at $30 for the porterhouse I did expect a little better. Only other item to note was the mac and cheese,it was Inedible, very dry, like it had been microwaved several times, kinda like you own mac and cheese gets on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, just tired and dry. Well if you made it this far like I said at the top, food ok...service,meh...not slamming this place but its lackluster enough for us...
Read moreI'd rate this approaching a solid 4, but not quite there for me. Went there Sunday fairly early for dinner, but they had large parties and were very busy. Nevertheless, we were seated quickly. Top Pros included the Tommy Fries (delicious as usual), the attentiveness of our server and the manager on duty. My ribeye tasted good (asked for it blackened) although it was a little on the thin side with significant fat content, it was sufficient for my level of hunger. My daughter said her cheeseburger was good. I was a little surprised at the fees and upcharges. It's automatic 3% when using a credit card. If you ask for extra ranch or jalapeños with your Tommy frees, extra for both. The ceasar salad as a side with my steak was an upcharge, and I was completely underwhelmed with it. It was mostly white and yellow romaine with the typical parmesean and croutons and it was a small portion, in my opinion. I didn't see what qualified that as a premium side requiring an upcharge. I was just "meh" with my Rodney Strong cabernet suavingnon. Their red wine offering was not very extensive. Overall, a pretty good experience and I appreciated my server and the manager coming to check on us as well as his ability to remember our parties name in his greeting all the way up to our exit. Alternately, it was nothing...
Read moreI'm not trying to say this is normal of T-Bones, but the food was terrible. The appetizer came out fast but was burnt and cold, dont understand how that happened. The manager asked if we would like bread, I said no but the wife said she wanted some after he left, so I asked the waiter if we could have bread, his reaction was if I asked him to rub my feet while I waited for my meal. When our meals came out he made a pretty rude comment to my wife and as soon as he set down the food left for a long time. My sons crab cakes were not edible ($18.99), and my steak was way overcooked. The manager asked about my steak, I told him that it was overcooked and my 10 oz was smaller than my wife's 8 oz, now if they were at least the same size or not burnt I would have left it alone. When I had my new steak come out it tasted like a wet sock, I had my wife try it and she said the same. The manager asked about the new steak, I said it was not good still but I dont fill like waiting for a new one. He brought me a box to take it home in, which I was not going to do until I looked at the check. If I have to pay $18.99 for a wet sock I'll at least feed it to my dog. T-Bonez will never get my business again but the way my family was treated I think our business was never really wanted in the...
