Congregation Coffee — Restaurant in Germantown

I enjoy the coffee but have always had rude experiences here. However I heard there was new management so I thought I would give them another try. Unfortunately I was disappointed again. At first the service was normal, nothing special but that’s fine to me. I don’t need nor want extra just decent people and good coffee. I noticed as a drink was being made (that looked like mine) that it was made with whole milk instead of oatmilk but I waited to be sure it was mine to say something. When I did the lady who made my drink rudely asked me if I ordered oatmilk or if I just assumed it came with it. When I said I did order it she said it wasn’t on her ticket again acting like that was my issue and not that the person rung it up wrong. Eventually another worker said she did hear me ask for oat milk. Then when she remade my drink and brought it back she was rude and snatched my number card off the table. And like anyone else would assume i thought she figured the coffee was the end of order and forgot the food I also ordered. I started to tell her I was still waiting on food and she interrupted me to say she knew but never once was going to let me know that as she took my number away. After several weird and bad experiences I hate to say it but I’m done with this place and hoped new management would fix that but...

If I could give zero stars, I would. The website says that they are currently open. I was supposed to meet a friend for coffee so I went to go check out the shop and the menu a day ahead of time because I was going to bring my son and I wanted to get a feel for what I wanted to get ahead of time, but when I pulled up to the shop, there was a sign on the door that said “Closed for maintenance until further notice.” The website says that they are open, but when you call no one is there to take your phone calls and you can’t even leave a message. I also was given some great reviews from a friend, but unfortunately, and not going to go back because even though this is a relatively new business, I’m not sure how dependable it can be because the website is not even reflecting hours and you can’t even reach anyone by phone. No one was even responsible enough to even let me know when they would be open in the future. This does not look promising for new Germantown businesses. Also, don’t blame it on Google. If your employees or yourself had the wherewithal to write that you were closed for maintenance, you could at least write when you could be back open...

I have been to congregation a couple of times now. It’s only about 5 minutes from my house, so I love the location. I want to love this new coffee shop so badly, but both times that I have been, I’ve been underwhelmed by the coffee. The first time I went I ordered a simple caramel latte. I was told that they could do it, but I later found out that was not the case. The caramel latte I ordered only used caramel drizzle (not syrup), so it had no flavor because the drizzle does not mix with the espresso and steamed milk. I was disappointed but not ready to give up on this place. The second time I went I decided to order one of their flavors for a latte since the first time I had asked for a specific drink that wasn’t on the menu. I ordered the cinnamon roll latte. It tasted slightly better than the first latte I had, but not by much. I am not sure what was being used to create the cinnamon roll flavor but it didn’t leave a great taste in your mouth when drinking it.
