Can you believe this is the most reviewed business in Gig Harbor? I find that strange as a lifetime resident that's never heard of it until recently. And Indian food is one my absolute favorites. Fortunately, it is very good!
The best thing I've had is the butter chicken and it's made perfectly. Rich in flavor and texture. Comforting and nostalgic.
Everything else is ok at best. The Tikka Masala is super bland. It's a good introductory dish for all these old people that have probably never had Indian food before but it's not a great representation of good Tikka.
A problem I have with both of those dishes is the chicken. They wayyyyy overcook the chicken here. I do enjoy how much chicken you get. Like it's very generous compared to some places I've been, but you also pay a heavy premium. I usually only pay like $15-$18 for those dishes but here it's $21. I just wish the chicken was cooked better. It's soooo chewy and tough. I find myself regularly having to drink water because the chicken is getting lodged in my throat and it's very uncomfortable, even if I cut the pieces in half. I need to chew more, but this isn't a problem I have at other places. I wish you could opt for dark meat as I do prefer thighs in my butter chicken (that's how I make my own homemade recipe) and it holds moisture better.
The Samosas here are pretty bad. They taste like soap. I love cilantro and I wonder if it's that causing the flavor because of the soap gene some people have, but until today I have never had that soapy taste from it. Maybe it's a different ingredient altogether, but my point is the Samosas overwhelming have this soapy taste and it's quite unpleasant. I will say they are breaded wonderfully.
Speaking of bread, the garlic naan is acceptable, but not great. You get quite a bit in quantity, but I barely taste the garlic, even when I eat it on its own. It's super disappointing. It looks like it is way more flavorful than it actually is.
Lastly, the mango lassi is quite good. It tastes homemade, so if it's not, they picked a great brand. If you're eating Indian food without a mango lassi you're doing it wrong.
Price is a bit on the high side overall but you can make two meals out of their dishes, so that helps.
Overall I will absolutely keep ordering from here but I can't say it's my favorite Indian place. I am grateful that an ethnic food desert like Gig Harbor has such a good Indian...
Read moreI'm so happy there is authentic Indian food so close to home! I've passed by Butter Chicken Indian Kitchen everyday and finally grabbed some food to go today. Ordered the chicken tikka masala 2*, regular naan, and masala chai. I wanted to try the moongdaal halwa, but they sold out, so I got the galub jamun. I've never had either of these desserts before, but wanted to try it. Amrik took my order on the phone, and when I arrived, he handed me a complimentary strawberry lassi! I gotta say, I've never like lassi that much, but this is delicious!! Definitely ordering this one next time. He also gave me a complimentary angoori rasmalai with my order! The Chai tea is made fresh, so he offered to have me wait in the car and he'll bring it to me in a few minutes. I only live 5mins from there, so my food was still super hot when I got back. I gotta tell you, the tikka masala was phenomenal!! I have not had such delicious tikka masala in a long time, and paired with the seasoned basmati rice with fresh naan = so freakin' good! The galub ramun is a bit sweet for me, but the angoori rasmalai was pretty good! Really looking forward to try the moongdaal halwa next time. Amrik let me look inside the dining area too - very clean and a good size. I fully recommend this restaurant - delicious food and...

Number one on his list because they had Modelo beer. Also ordered gulab jamun for dessert, I enjoyed the warm honey Syrup with a hint of saffron gives is a little kick, kinda like a pancake. Chai was good, it was nice that they gave two packets of sugar to adjust to my own Liking. We did get a complimentary strawberry yogurt, dessert to help neutralize The spices from the curry, which is fantastic! So far, this is the only place that I ever been to that gives you a Complementary yogurt to help with digesting. A restaurant that serves you good food at the same time caring about your digestive system. I dig it.Will be returning for sure! Keep up the good work! I forgot to take a picture of...
