Hello again my fellow reviewers, I am very pleased to do my review of the Puerto Vallarta Mexican restaurant in Gig Harbor today. My family and I have not eaten at this restaurant in 10 years even though we live about 7 minutes from it. And that was because we had a bad experience in 2014. We had a late lunch /dinner around 3:00 p.m. and for us it was a perfect time they were not very many people and it allowed me to take many pictures and check out the restaurant. First off they gave us some very fresh tortilla chips with salsa and also a bean dip which was absolutely delicious! I ended up getting a chicken and tortilla soup as an appetizer which was delicious and then we ordered a fiesta platter which came with taquitos and nachos and cheese and a few other items which is very delicious. We noticed that they are very generous with the portions so if you spend $15 or so dollars on a meal you definitely get your money's worth. I wanted to try their Pollo asado which I happen to be a big fan of, you can see all the pictures because I wanted to showsome highlights. Restaurants very lively I like the colors even the menus I was very thrilled to see they're almost like heavy leather and very quality made. So I can see how the restaurant does get crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. My wife had a margarita which she enjoyed but my daughter and I really enjoyed their regular lemonade. All I know is a very pleasurable experience especially after such a long hiatus! So I certainly do recommend going in and having a lunch or dinner. I think anyone would just really enjoy themselves. Just to put some perspective for the three of us with all the food we ate it came out to around...
Read moreTonight while dining the power went out. We were having a goodbye dinner for my sister before she leaves to fly across the country. They continued serving meals so we stayed since we had already been waiting so long we were sure ours was already done anyways. When we got ours the inside of the enchiladas were cold and all cheese was unmelted. When I mentioned it to the waiter he shrugged and continued working. When I talked to the manager he did the same shrug, but I explained I didn't want to pay for a meal he couldn't eat and he agreed to that. The biggest problem I had here was that the staff did not care at all about any of us. The power went out and we never had anyone visit our table to explain anything or discuss our options. Even after we had issues with our orders, they still offered no apologies or resolutions. And then we were told that our party's bill couldn't be printed therefore couldn't be separated, and we all needed to figure out our own totals and also figure out our taxes because they couldn't do it. When we did that, our waiter then tried to say that we were shorting him, even though we did the itemized math in front of him and added taxes to it. We were then asked to give another $20 with no explanation except he thinks we were short from what he remembers seeing on the computer screen before the power went out. Which seemed extra concerning since he had listed three different totals when telling us to pay ranging from $214 to $260. We finally gave him an "acceptable" amount to where he let us leave. I'm truly devastated at this being my sisters send off meal and at the discourteous behavior of the restaurant and their nonchalant disregard...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but my experience here was so disappointing I felt it needed to be shared. I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy a peaceful meal on their large patio on a beautiful day. Nearly every table was open except for two, so I sat down outside as instructed by the hostess who said it was open seating. So far, so good.
However, things quickly went downhill. The waiter came by to take our drink order, and I simply asked for a water with lemon and a tortilla chicken soup — not exactly complicated. I mentioned I was feeling under the weather and just trying to hydrate and get something warm. That’s when things took a bizarre turn.
The server asked for my ID — for water and soup. I clarified again: no alcohol, just water and soup. She insisted she needed to scan my ID. I even offered a photo of it (which is common practice at many places), but she refused. Then, when I asked if we could be seated at a table to place the order more directly, she told me I had to go back to the hostess to be seated again, even though the patio was open seating to begin with.
At that point, we were so frustrated and embarrassed by the treatment that we just left. There was no hospitality, no flexibility, and no basic courtesy.
If you’re looking for a place that respects customers and shows even the smallest amount of care, I’d recommend you look elsewhere. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants that understand how to treat people. This one...
