It was hard to find, but tasty and totally worth the stop. It is worth noting that they are located inside a specialty growers supply store. Everything you need for making your own pot nursery. This was a surprise to us, as we had only looked at places with breakfast food and found this place. We walked into the Root 101 Nursery doors and found Wildwood Waffles in the corner with a few tables. We ordered the Mexican Mocha, a regular coffee, the Wildwood (adding eggs and cheese), and the Bananas and Buds. Let me note that the Bananas and Buds are not edibles, just a playful name considering the store. The Bananas and buds come with a halfed banana and peanut butter or nuetella, or both. I had it with both and did not regret it. My husband's came with maple butter, sausage, eggs,, and cheese. The waffles are not crunchy, but that is so they are bendable for the sandwich style in which they are served. The waffles are a little more dense than they look, but that made them nice and filling. It also took a little time to make, but that is because they are making each waffle fresh, and in a little place like this, that means time. We found it a great stop on our 2,100...
Read moreWent in with my girlfriend and 6 year old daughter. The lady (Blonde) was pretty rude to us, rushing us after about 5 seconds of looking at the menu. Didn't understand why but brushed it off and placed the order, no real interaction after I did, kinda just stood there waiting for a response which didn't happen, just decided to sit down. Recieved my order, said thank you, no response. Sat down to eat and all 3 had sausage/egg and were very cold in the middle. Tried to eat anyways but it was completely cold so went up to ask if it can be fixed. Waited a few minutes respectfully at the counter while being ignored. Eventually was told to just microwave them. Didn't wanna have a resturaunt confrontation over waffles so I did, it was pretty gross, we didn't finish them just threw them away and went about our life. Not sure what the deal was with why we were given that service after reading the great reviews. Maybe or demographic or the server was having a bad day. Was just a horrible experience I don't want to go through again. It does appear others had completely opposite experiences though, this...
Read moreI thought it would be fun to take my mom out for waffles on Mother's Day. I had read a review on the Tacoma News Tribune recommending this place.
We get there and there are no waffles. We could substitute a Costco croissant or Costco bagel. We didn't really want to deal with the traffic, so we have it a shot.
What I didn't realize, there would be no discount. My mom got the chicken and waffle (but on a bagel). They must like Costco, because the chicken was sliced nuggets from Costco. It was almost 20 bucks. I had a croissant with butter: about 12 bucks.
We also got two iced coffee, not realizing they charge for ice... Ice. This isn't a destination, or high traffic area. It's Gig Harbor.
In the end, I paid almost $50 bucks for a bagel, a croissant, and 2 iced coffees.
The worst part was sitting at the window watching the little cafe across the street. Oh well. We laughed over the meal (how ridiculous both the food and price was).
At least we have a story...
