We have been eating at the original morenos for 8 years maybe even longer. When the gecko grill opened we was very happy because it was a lot closer, and we could eat in it a lot more frequent. We usually eat there 1-2 times weekly, i have a large family and beings i am a decently well knowing athlete i do not feel comfortable disclosing my name over a review. I never give any type of reviews as a matter of fact this is my first ever review.. every time we dine in the waitresses rarely come over to refill drinks, and look at me like im from another planet when i ask for the green avocado sauce that me and my family use on everything. And tell us every time they do not have anything like that.. which is completely wrong I've ate it there many times with to go orders and on occasion in the dining room when a waitress actually knows the menu and sauces properly which is rare. So lately instead of being embarrassed and barely waited on, we order take out every time and when we order dinner there up to twice weekly i would think everyone would know our order fairly well and be able to give us the correct orderd food i understand when you order food for 6-8 different people it might get confusing although our orders are very straightforward when we arrive home usually half the order is wrong and 1-2 items are missing I've called to the resturant a couple times and they will apologize for their mistake. And i have not even spoke up until know so after a 1-2 years of this same mistake every time, i figured it was only proper to address the issue that i have complained about so many times... about 40% of the time on my togo orders i am told that they do not make any green avocado cream sauce and that they only have salsa or guacamole which is not true because i eat it there all the time.. and what finally made me put up this review is my recent phone orders i either dont get no answer or put on hold for over 5-8 minutes i end up hanging up calling back a few times and end up not speaking to anybody after trying to place a pick up order for 30-45 minutes so my family ends up driving there as of late and having to order to go INSIDE the actual resturant which is extremely unprofessional aswell as being rushed into making a order and it's making eating there just difficult anymore.. no one in my home wants to eat their dinner at 8-9 o'clock at night and having to reheat the food and till this day we have never received a order to go with everything being exactly the way we orderd it, and that is saying alot beings we order take out 1-2 times per week the only reason i have it at 2 stars is because the food is good when i get what i orderd which is far and few inbetween.. i have recommended this resturant to tons of family, friends, and my team members and always give them a positive review... i really hope this changes because if not i refuse to be treated like i am a dummy and my families food being made wrong. I always make sure me or my family is very polite and tips...
Read moreSo, it's been about 32 hours since I left Gecko Grill and I can't stop thinking about Gecko Grill. Let me start off by saying that I'm new to Mexican food and by no means am I an expert. However, I have experienced food so unsatisfactory that I've left the restaurant in tears (I also may be a bit dramatic at times but thats beside the point). Anyway, to begin, the staff there were fantastic. The girl welcomed us in with a smile on her face and an eagerness to serve. She even let me choose where I wanted to sit, made me feel like an absolute queen. In this case, I guess you could say I was la reina de los geckos. I chose one of those hybrid booth tables with chairs on one side. The chairs almost lost Gecko Grill a star since they were probably bought at the Flinstones' local Ikea. Hard as a rock. The booth side was fairly comfortable, which made up for the chairs. Being the bougie princess I am, I ordered a water with lemon. Surprise, surpise, they brought out the typical chips and salsa with my drink. I was nervous about the chips being stale but to my surprise, they were warm and crunchy. There were the red and green salas. The red one, in my opinion was the better of the two. Just enough kick to enjoy without feeling the need to drown yourself in a cool beverage (I'm not too big on spices lately, so it might not be enough kick for others). Moving on to the main course, which didn't take long to get to me, I ordered the Grande Seafood. Presentation=Flawless. As you can see in the picture, they added a cute little Mexican flag which is what earned themselves their fifth star in my review. The Taste=Well, I tell you wHat, my soul left my body. When I say my soul left my body, I mean, in my moment of bliss, she went down to a small, seaside Mexican village and sat down in my long, lost abuelita's cocina. With the warm, salty sea breeze blowing into the room and filling my nostrils with the perfect balance of sweet, savory crab and tortillas, I felt at home. Number one, I'm not Mexican. Number two, I've never been to Mexico. This dish was an ablsoute experience. 10/10 would recommend. There is a nice patio area with a bar that I'll be trying next time. This girl was complaining about her margarita being too small but at this point, Gecko Grill can serve me kool-aid and I'd still rate it 5 stars after my...
Read moreI honestly feel Gecko Grill's closing methods are the furthest thing from customer oriented as possible. The staff is so hyper-focused on locking the doors at 8pm that service does not exist.
First, the refuse people from being seated if they come in one minute after 7:45. My husband and I get off at 7:30pm and we like going there for a quick dinner and NEVER stay past maybe 8:05pm and there are ALWAYS multiple tables of people still there when we leave.
Recently we came in at 7:35, and because of a disability, I can only sit in a booth - which were all full. The hostess didn't listen and tried to seat us at a table. When we insisted we had to wait for a booth (or half table half booth) she gave us a very unwelcome sigh. One didn't open up until 7:47 and the servers began discussing about refusing to seat us since it was after 7:45, even though we were there on time.
When we did get seated, the server rushed over to us and told us we had to hurry and tell her our order (before even asking about drinks) because the kitchen was closing. Luckily we knew what we wanted, but if we had a question or wanted an appetizer, we would have been refused! We love having dessert after our meal, but we are always denied because "the kitchen is closed", even when we were seated at 7:30.
While we were eating, the staff was putting chairs on tables all around us (which is noisy and uncomfortable to sit next to) and the worst part is the sweeping right next to us! So all that dust and debris is going right onto us and our food. That is horrible! This closing method has happened to us multiple times and if it wasn't for such good food, we would never come back.
Do customers deserve to be treated like a nuisance by the staff just because they want to leave work as close to 8pm as possible? I have worked in restaurants, owned a restaurant, and been to tons of them. I am flabbergasted by this closing policy and how they don't care about the customers who are still dining. I've never seen a restaurant that doesn't allow customers to be seated as long as they are there by closing time. But the worst part is I've never been to a restaurant that makes it's customers, who work late, feel so unwelcome, even if they are done and leaving by the time they...
