I’ve noticed The Soda Shop next-door to Fatcats and wondered what they have on their menu but I haven’t stopped by until today. I’ve seen soda places pop up around Gilbert lately and was curious what makes them so special so when I walked in today I was pleasantly surprised to find that the menu includes variations on literally my favorite soda ever: Dr Pepper. The cashier (adorably perky) talked me into ordering the Spring Fling, which includes Dr Pepper, vanilla, strawberry purée, and coconut cream. I am rarely ever the type of person who would stop to get a beverage at a place that doesn’t have a drive-thru and yet...am I in love with soda again?! My family is familiar with my obsession with Dr Pepper. I used to be paid to babysit my younger siblings with Dr Pepper and Doritos 😂 Lately it’s super rare for me to drink soda because I feel like 30-something’s are all about their lemon waters but OMG I LOVED THE SPRING FLING. I am mentally calculating whom I should initiate into the Soda Shop family next 🥰 Also, I got a sugar cookie with a swipe of pinkish frosting on top and thought “this cookie is for two people, maybe this would be a cute date spot before a movie at Fatcats?” I thought it was off (at first) that the cookie came out cold when it was handed over, but by the time I put my soda down and bit into it, the cookie was perfect room temperature and actually pretty delicious. Despite the frosting it doesn’t leave your teeth hurting from the sugar, it’s actually a yum complement to the fresh...
Read moreWe go here 2 to 3 times a week, I pick up on my way home from work. The kids that work there always seem like disgruntled teens forced to get a job, no real customer service but whatever you're getting a drink from them. Well I ordered a riptide and they gave me a pink Bahama which is all fine and dandy, I live about 6 miles from the location and realize when I get home and I take a big sip and realize there's peach flavor in there. I'm allergic to peaches. I get back in my car because I can't get any one on the phone to see if I can maybe get a credit for next time. I get to the store and without even listening to me tell them that I have a food allergy to a food they put in my drink because they gave me the wrong order they snatch the wrong drink from my hand, no apology and make a sorry excuse of a riptide drink for me. And give me a half assed apology. Like hello gas cost money people so does my time here I am thinking I'm off work and get to kick back and get in my pool but no I have to drive 6 miles back to get a correct drink order and take...
Read moreI go to swig a decent amount and overall really like their drinks, even if they are sometimes inconsistent they usually are still a good experience. Recently they added boba to their menu and me and my girlfriend tried the Thai coconut with high hopes since boba is my all time favorite drink. The drink had almost 0 boba compared to an actual boba drink, while costing the same amount. And the boba was outright HORRIBLE, it’s inedible how hard it is, and when I went back to talk to them about it they remade it, and added “extra boba” but it was still so so so little. The boba is just bad. It’s not the employees fault since the remade boba tasted the same, and the actual drink part to be fair is tasty, it’s just too hard. They also seemed unaware and thought that the ice of the drink is why the boba is hard, which is just not true I get blended taro and other boba drinks and they are still soft or at least leagues softer. And even if it is then maybe they should use different boba that you can...
