I wish I had taken pictures but I was so hungry, I completely forgot to! I’ve been wearing at this Someburros since it first opened, probably, 15 years ago. The location near San Tan Mall is great and it has a good sized parking lot. It is fast casual, so you order at the counter, get a number, pick up your own beverage and then they bring your food to your table. The dining room is good sized with both booths and tables, and was updated/remodeled within the last couple of years. The food is served on actual dishes, not paper or plastic, and the same goes for the forks and knives. There is a covered patio if you’d prefer to eat outside but the road noise from Market Street can be quite loud. Their food is always on point! I’ve not ever been disappointed with my meal from Someburros. As a matter of fact, I’ve ordered platters of their food, picked it up at their window and have served it at parties in my home. My go-to is the Pollo Fundido. I highly recommend it. It comes with a side of rice and a small basket of chips. The chicken inside the Pollo Fundido is white chunks and sooo delicious! I love their mild salsa (the hot is TOO hot for this girl!) and the ice tea is always fresh, which I can be a strong critic of in any restaurant. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. In addition, the bathrooms have always been clean. Oh, and the drive up window use to only be orders customers made in advance but it’s now an actual drive through and order! The only reason I gave this review 4 stars is because it’s counter service/fast casual. For what it is (or is not…a fancy steak house, or such, where the ambience is magical and the staff waiting on my every whim) it’s an awesome place and it’s a local family who owns it, which makes me even happier to...
Read moreI made a to go order last night, 5/22 at 6:59pm. I asked if I needed an order number or anything and they said they would call my name when it was ready. I sat on their bench and waited. I observed the workers behind the counter chatting away, putting orders together but not really paying attention to the details, it was obvious. After 20 minutes I started to get a bit frustated since sit down restaurants can usually get your food out in that time frame. I approached the counter after 25 minutes and was completely ignored by not one but two workers. Finally the third worker asked if I could be helped. I explained that I had a to go order that I had been waiting for, for almost 30 minutes. He walked away without a word and looked over by the drive thru window and pulled the order that had been ready, for who knows how long, set it down in front of me and walked away without a word. I was very frustrated and another worker could see so he asked if everything was alright, I stated it was not as I had waited 30 minutes for food and it had been ready without a word spoken. He shrugged his shoulders and said “oh sorry about that” and walked away. Get home to cold food that had to be reheated. This was a $45 dollar order and not one person cared about the customer service. It was my first time there and will be my last. Extremely...
Read moreI've been patronizing Someburros since its first location opened in Tempe decades ago. Recently I've visited their restaurants at Chandler Heights/Gilbert Road and by Chandler Mall with very disappointing results.
Today, curiosity got me wondering if the San Tan Village location was just as inept with their food preparation. So I stopped by for lunch and ordered the #1 combo with a chicken taco and cheese enchilada.
A taco and enchilada should be the easiest items for a Mexican food restaurant to prepare, but Someburros has fallen on such hard times they can't get even the simplest of tasks satisfactorily completed.
The taco was as skinny as it's Jack in the Box cousin and the enchilada had large chunks of unmelted cheese on the inside. At least Someburros is consistent as I experienced the same food quality at the other locations recently visited.
So now I know I didn't catch one of the Someburros having an off day. Even the finest restaurants have bad days. Over the past three weeks I've been to three Someburros and none of them know how to melt cheese.
So..... I give up. I'm a loyal customer to businesses who offer quality products and services but I've given Someburros more than a fair chance to...
