We don't typically shop at this Safeway since it is a little farther away from our house, but we were down that way so we stopped in. If you go in after a certain time, the door on the right is locked. There is no sign or anything to indicate this, so we almost thought it was closed. Luckily, there was a worker outside that said that the other door was open.
The store had everything that we needed. The male cashier that checked us out was friendly, quick and efficient.
A problem only arose when I went to purchase 2 scratcher tickets from the machine. I purchased two $5 tickets and only one of them came out. The customer service desk had a sign on it indicating it was closed, although there was a girl (I think from Starbucks) standing in front of it.
I stood in line at a register so that I could alert someone of the issue. I was third in line. When I got to the front, the female cashier told me that I needed to wait at the customer service counter for someone. I told her the sign said it was closed and she said it was because the person was counting out a register for the girl (Starbucks) that was standing there.
So I went back up to the customer service desk. After about two minutes, the male cashier that originally checked us out, yelled from his register that the customer service desk is closed. I told him what the female cashier said, but he said that was incorrect. He told me that I had to come back in the morning to get my refund.
I sent a message to Safeway customer service that same night, but it's been about a month and no one has reached out to me. My suggestion would be to have someone available during store hours that can help out with issues like these so that the customer doesn't need to come back for a resolution.

I only saw stew beef on the shelf..so I had went up to the counter the two gentlemen behind the counter that were working today saw me immediately and came right out and greeted me professionally and ask how they could help. So I told them what I was making for dinner and the guy advised me what he had and might go well for my beef stir fry, I said sounds delicious I do that. He was so nice and said it will only take a couple minutes to wrap the chopped beef you need ma am.. he did it very quickly and professionally. I was very impressed!
Very nice young man but I could not remember his name he had a tattoo I believe on the side of his neck.

I placed an online order today (9/16/25) and he carefully picked out my groceries like he was shopping for his own family, my milk even had an advanced expiration date (a detail most shoppers would overlook but Greg nailed). And when one of my items was out of stock he drove to multiple stores to find it. Ok, that’s customer service at a level you almost never see. I don’t know any dad who would drive to multiple stores for their kid’s Oreos lol. Greg’s dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction make him a clear example of excellence.
