This used to be a regular stop for us but the quality and service has gone down hill a bit. We ordered puffy tacos for the table and guacamole. The tacos were significantly less puffy than they used to be, and could pass as a fried taco more than a puffy taco. The chicken inside the taco was still fantastic, after you dug through the toppings to find it. The "guacamole" was hardly recognizable as guacamole too. If I wanted a schmear of avocado then that's what I would have ordered. *CHOKING HAZARD* be aware of the "guacamole" as it contained several pit fragments and chunks of the shell as well. Lastly, they changed the tortillas that they use for their chips, they aren't nearly as tasty as they used to be, and should be changed back to the way they used to be. Might give this location another chance in the future, but not really feeling inclined to do so.

I’m giving this place 2 stars for the service and 1 star for the food. The service was great, our waitress made sure we always had chips and salsa and made sure our drinks were always topped off without waiting. Now the food.. I like Tex mex style Mexican which this is what it is. The authentic taco was very very dry and the pork was bland. We got meat in the enchiladas we ordered and the chicken again was flavorless and dry. The only decent thing was the cheese dip. I’m a regular at Mi Ranchito down the street and it will stay that way after trying this place. Can’t really recommend this place based off the things I got.

If you love beans, cheese, and rice, get an entree here! The salsa isn't salsa. It's tomato puree. But ask for the spicy salsa. It's delicious. Enchiladas are stuffed and smothered with delicious, gooey, cheese. Hard to distinguish food items as everything is the same color. The pork was very good in the taco and enchilada. Service was great and food came quickly. You can peruse advertising for local businesses right on your dining table! Portions are more than generous and you won't leave hungry. This isn't the spot for authentic Mexican food, but there's a bar with sports on and there are margarita specials.

Woof. Okay. I knew when I walked in and took one look at the clientele, I knew it was not going to authentic at all. Someone in my party wanted to stay and they were treating us, and if it weren't for that I would've turned right back out and went somewhere else. At the end I'll tell y'all what to look for to avoid this kind of experience.

The food: So my main problem with this place tonight was the food was so bland. No flavor or spice at all. Even the "hot sauce" I asked for was so so mild, like zero kick at all, same runny salsa stuff as they give you with the chips just a lighter color. My chicken in my tacos had zero seasoning on it, no color or flavor at all. Not even pepper or salt! TACO BELL has way more flavor. And VERY dry, the chicken was so overcooked. This is like white people "Mexican" food to an extreme and I'm not just saying that because I spent years in L.A. and I've had amazing Mexican food before, this is genuinely so lackluster, especially considering the prices.

The place itself: The plastic tables were covered in ads, truely an eyesore. There was no personality or character anywhere, no culture. The server was fine.

To call themselves "authentic" on their sign is ridiculous. And obviously this is the Midwest, I understand it's not going to be truely authentic, but there was absolutely no flavor, no ambiance, it was a huge bummer. I understand this place is mainly popular for it's bar, and that's fine, but don't come here for anything else.

Here are the signs a Mexican food place is good:

  1. the waitstaff and cooks are primarily mexican if not all, cuz duh 2)they are playing spanish songs, usually classics. If they have a mariachi band, that food is going to SLAP!
  2. they sell horchata, jarritos, and other mexican beverages.
  3. Bonus points if the menu has terrible pictures of the food and lots of...

Every single staff member seemed highly agitated, which makes sense because it seemed like they were pretty short staffed. Our server was great our service was not. It took 10 minutes to get an empty glass rimmed with salt to fill from a pitcher of margarita we already had on the table and then took another 15 to 20 minutes to get a second pitcher. I’m assuming this is a reflection of either poor ownership or poor management however, when my mother came out of the bathroom with my niece, she stopped at the bar after waiting over 10 minutes for a pitcher of margarita, the staff could’ve simply told her. Hey let’s check your table to make sure it didn’t get delivered while you were in the bathroom, but instead explain to her she had to order through her server and once I got up and told my mother that the pitcher of margaritas arrived seconds before she got to the bar, as soon as my mother turned my back, the bartender had some snarky comment about my mother. Your margaritas come from a tap I’m not sure why the bartender with four empty seats at his bar and nothing else to do but pick his nose chose to be snarky with my mother instead of helping solve an issue, as in run drinks to tables an be apart of you’re team ESPECIALLY if you’re getting tipped out by the servers that are overwhelmed and under helped. I ordered the fajitas with shrimp and steak. I got five pieces of shrimp and six pieces of tiny chewy steak. There were more onions on my plate meat and for $18.99. That’s...

We always have an exceptional dining experience at Margarita’s North! Their daily specials are good, but I always crave fajitas. The combination of their puffy tacos and sizzling fajitas always leave me completely satisfied and craving for more. The puffy tacos were a delightful surprise - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they added a unique twist to traditional tacos. The fajitas were a feast for the senses - the aroma, the sizzle, and the flavors were truly remarkable.

The staff's warm hospitality and attentive service enhanced the overall ambiance. They made sure everything was just right, from the moment I walked in till the time I left. The presentation of the dishes was top-notch, and it's clear that the chefs put their heart and soul into crafting these delicious creations.

The variety of options on the menu, along with the skillful execution of each dish, truly sets Margarita’s North apart. Whether you're a taco aficionado or a fajita lover, this place has something special for everyone. The combination of flavors, textures, and aromas showcased the culinary expertise that makes this restaurant a gem.

I can't wait to return to Margarita’s North to explore more of their menu and relish the fantastic culinary journey they offer. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience that combines traditional flavors with creative twists, look no further than...
