This review is tough to write to be honest. I can't remember the last time I felt the need to give a place just 1 star so I debated for a bit about it. Unfortunately, I can't improve my rating. I'll preface my review by saying that I have eaten at a Colton's before (different city) and thought it was good. Although that was a few years ago, I had no reason to think this visit would be different...I arrived around 1145am on a Monday and was seated immediately near the kitchen entrance. The place was about 60% full and stayed that way for my entire visit. They appeared to be fully staffed as I noticed at least 8-10 different servers walking around. Anyway, I sensed bad things to come as it took 10 minutes for "Tina" to come to my table. I placed my entire order and off she went. The Caesar salad came out in about 5 minutes along with my drink. I picked at it slowly as I remembered they serve bread - and I was hoping to have that with my salad. Unfortunately it didn't show up until 2 minutes before my meal. A different server actually delivered my meal and I advised that I ordered the double chops (only received 1). She said OK and went to the kitchen. "Tina" shows up when I'm halfway finished with my meal and says she wrote down my order incorrectly and asked if I wanted the 2nd chop cooked. I said no and she left. The chop I did have was 50% fat. The other 50% (besides the bone) was decent with the honey mustard but nowhere near filling - very thinly cut. The broccoli was almost as brown as it was green and was very bland. Thankfully I was able to drown it in the butter I didn't use from the bread. On top of eating very underwhelming food, my glass sat empty on the edge of the table until I was finished completely. She showed up with a refill while I was playing on my phone waiting for the check. And she didn't even ask if I wanted the check - she grabbed the plates and walked away. A 3rd server attempted to drop the check off but I gave her my card before she could walk away. 10 minutes later, "Tina" dropped it off. I'm pretty sure that halfway through the meal, she assumed she wouldn't be getting a good tip and stopped trying at that point. Which is a terrible attitude to have. Maybe apologize and be more attentive instead?? Needless to say that I was very disappointed by every part of my visit except the hostess. Not that she did anything special - just that she greeted me with a smile and sat me immediately...which is her job. I will note 1 observation that I believe Colton's management could possibly address. Of the plethora of servers there, very few were under the age of 45, 50ish. Age alone doesn't determine somebody's work ethic or ability most of the time, but during my visit, I noticed that only the younger few (guys and girls) were walking at a fast pace. Perhaps this establishment could look into mixing up the schedule a little more to bring more energy and less "I've been doing this forever and move at my own pace" type of mentality. I assure you, having that group of "more experienced" servers all together at the same time gives off a very leisurely work pace vibe. I won't return or recommend this particular location. I'm also going to be very leery of going to any other locations as well considering...
Read moreFirst time eating here as we were out driving around searching for a good place to eat. For a steakhouse this is NOT it. First, you will be fooled by the smell. The amazing smell is definitely not coming from this place but is more than likely the place right down the street Freddy’s steak burgers. At first glance the place seemed decorated great and had a country small town vibe. There was no wait which was surprising at first with the amount of cars there, however, I do truly believe that the lot full of cars are decoys because the food sucked so bad. At a closer look the place is terribly dirty. There is crayon marks on the walls of booths and trash under tables and all over. When we got our food which was 2 meals of the same ( NY strip, green beans, and Mac and cheese) the steaks were grossly under cooked. My med rare was more along the lines of blue/rare and my girls med steak was more along the lines of med rare to rare. Add to this that the Mac and cheese was more or less just macaroni no cheese and cold. The green beans were the best part of the meal but still lacked any seasoning whatsoever. They were almost as bland as the steak was. I forgot to mention that the steak while juicy was bland and no one could be bothered to toss any amount of salt, pepper, or butter on these while cooking them. Wait… they barely cooked them so maybe they didn’t have time since they merry cut the meat off the animal chopped its hooves off and slapped that bad boy on the plate. We still left a $22 dollar tip as none of this was the servers fault and she did exceptionally well. Sad because we wanted to try a smallish town steakhouse and not a large chain steakhouse but will not be back as I am more than capable of making a better steak...
Read moreWe recently visited this location while on vacation in Kentucky. We found our waitress, Angela (Annie on the dinner ticket) to be very attentive, and so friendly! She checked back with us several times. She answered our questions and explained things we didn't know, patiently.
This was our first visit to a Colton's Steakhouse & Grill. I found the atmosphere to be fun and relaxing. I really enjoyed looking at all the stuff on the walls. It was just fun to sit and look around the place.
We had the Tombstone Rita, my husband had the regular one, and the waitress offered to have mine made up frozen, which was GREAT! I love frozen drinks. My son had a Pina Colada and he said it was good too. My husband and I had the 12oz Ribeye, now, when it came out it looked much bigger! It was good. I have to say that I have had more seasoned and tender steak at other places, but this was actually the best food we had all vacation. The portions are big, be prepared to bring some home if you aren't a real big eater. The fried okra was really good. I had the house salad with the house dressing. I wasn't expecting to have such a big salad and a TON of dressing which is put on the side so you can dress it yourself, it was nice and fresh and really refreshing. We also got a Bloomin' Onion, which was just as delicious as the ones from Outback.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and would recommend it to all our friends. We had visited a local ribs place that was highly recommended by locals, but we were very disappointed in the food we got that day, so we were very happy when we got such delicious food here.
I would definitely recommend this place to my...
