Ry’s Bagels, Glassboro, NJ📍 Bacon egg & cheese, a dozen warm bagels, and iced coffee with sweet Italian cream, perfection. Where do you grab your morning coffee and bagels? #CoffeeLovers #bagel #CoffeeTime #southjersey

I don’t write reviews often, but I felt like this one had to be said. I have been going to Ry’s Bagels for many years now. I drive 25 minutes just for bagels and coffee. Honestly, they have very good bagels and very good iced coffee, which is what I get every single time I’m there. Because I’ve been going there for so long, I know that It gets very busy on the weekends, so I typically call ahead if I can remember. Today I called ahead for a very simple order: two bagels with cream cheese, two iced coffees, and half a dozen bagels not cut or anything. It took 40 minutes from the time I called for everything to be given to me. Now- I understand that they may be busy, but people who are ordering right at the time that I paid were getting their meals before me. So what’s the point of calling ahead if it doesn’t “save your spot” essentially. Yes, I told them when I was there, and checked in around the half hour mark, so it’s not like they forgot about me. On top of waiting 40 minutes for food, my bagels were burnt, no whip on the coffee, which are things I normally wouldn’t complain about, but with everything else.. it’s like COME ON. If that wasn’t enough, the weirdest interaction took place. A man came in to the bagel shop, very loudly, and the woman behind the counter called the cops on him because of his disturbance. Now, I understand that it may be disturbing to other customers, or hard to hear, but this man did not mean any harm, and the way the lady reacted was unreal. He came in talking about the football game… just making conversation. She yelled multiple times, kicked him out, and then continued to talk badly about him and how she “ won’t put up with any of that”. Honestly, it was just a very bad experience. I understand businesses have good days and bad days but you should always run your business like it’s someone’s first time visiting your place. If that was my first time at rice bagels, I would’ve been mortified of everything that happened during my visit. I will probably not be driving 25 minutes to wait 40 minutes for my bagels again.

Pro Tips if you haven’t already ordered and wondering:

Foods Fantastic there’s a reason they are so busy sometimes.

If you walk in and line is long, don’t order online. You just landed at the bottom of their queue (spent hour and change waiting for our order).

If you walk in and line is long and you need to be somewhere, run.

If you know the owners, service is amazing. If you don’t probably try to get to know them for your next visit.

They confirm 100% of orders so be prepared with your ticket or receipt. You will speed things up and probably leave happier.

If ordering online during rush periods add 20min to whatever online is saying it’s going to take. The order was ready 45min after the website said it would be at first (they did adjust the ready time) and was ready 25min after the time they adjusted to. And don’t assume you’ll get the order ready text. Mine came 35min after I had already left.

While waiting I was looked at multiple times but never acknowledged. Probably because I was progressively more irritated at spending an hour plus there and being late for work. They were packed up until the point about 15min before I got the food. Was cool until I realized wait why am I still here. If someone had said hey what are you waiting on while they read through the many orders abandoned by pissed off delivery drivers I probably wouldn’t have stopped by to review like every other time I’ve been in and said why do I do this to myself lol. Not today. Sorry, just hoping to save someone a headache cause time is precious.

Ordered online thinking it would help them and speed things up for everyone else. The ordering process is very slow and inefficient when they’re at peak. So just plan accordingly. Good luck! Food’s delicious, didn’t survive the car ride to work it smelled and...

Their bagel sandwiches are good. We come here at least once a week and order through DoorDash. We always show up when we receive the “Your order is ready!” message but rarely is our order ever ready. Only a handful of times was it a smooth process but most of the time we end up waiting almost 25-30 minutes. We watch other people come in, order, and pick up their order before ours even though we ordered ahead of time and were told it was ready. It seems very unorganized. Not once, but TWICE have we had to ask where our order was because we were waiting an unacceptable amount of time and have been told another customer took our order or we gave out your order to someone else by mistake. They offered to remake our order but were not apologetic whatsoever. On top of that we had to order something different because they were out of the bagel we ordered since they gave away our order. I work in the food industry and I understand things can get busy but never have I ever messed up this often. Maybe a good suggestion would be to ask to see someone’s receipt when they come to pick up an order and make sure they are picking up the correct order. Or offer a free sandwich voucher or something for the mess up that has happened more then once. I love this place but have really been thinking about finding somewhere new to go because this happens way too often. It’s very unprofessional....
