Giordano's — Restaurant in Glen Ellyn

I love the pizza here. On Pizza alone, I'd give them a five star rating....

But after frequenting this location for the last few years I've noticed a steady decline in service. My most recent order was pretty disappointing. I placed the order online and was given a pickup time from 4:14pm - 4:24pm. I showed up early, at 4:00pm and the pizza was already done. I'd ordered 'double pepperoni' but it was really more like 'light pepperoni'. Maybe it was 'pepperoni' but it really wasn't double.

The time before I went with delivery. They gave me a time that more than an hour away but ended up being closer to 15 minutes later than expected. I really don't mind if it takes a long time or even if it shows up late, so long as it's reasonable hot/fresh. This pizza felt like something that was finished cooking 40 minutes ago (and it probably was).

The time before that I selected the 'Uncut' option when ordering online but the pizza was still cut.

Finally, on my most recent order, the website offered me a free starter if I signed up for their mailing list. Cool, whatever. I like pizza, I like free starters. So, I spent 10 minutes looking at the starters and talking to my family to determine which to get. Only, even after signing up....I didn't get a free starter. Instead I received an email that said 'Thanks for signing up....you will get a free starter SOON'. What does that mean? In the next 30 seconds? The next 30 minutes? I'd just talked everyone into a starter and now I'm waiting to place my order, waiting for an email. How long am I supposed to wait?

I gave up and paid for the starter. It was a good thing because the free starter didn't show up until the following day.

My wife really wanted to try some Chicago style deep dish pizza. We were in Naperville and we did a Google search for Chicago Style Pizza. Giordano's popped up, and I recalled I had visited this specific location that was highly recommended by a high school friend who had moved from Michigan to Naperville area when he started College at DuPage. I remembered that I thought it was very good, so I told my wife let's go. The restaurant was conveniently located, and our Tesla routed us to the restaurant along the backside which made parking convenient. We went in and it was not too busy, and the waitress was right with us and took our drink orders. We liked the menu layout, and my wife spotted the Chicago Classic, which fit perfectly for what we were looking for. We ordered the kids a Thin Crust cheese oizza, and they accommodated half and half toppings, adding pepperoni to half. We ordered the Calamari appetizer as well, and the waitress asked us if we wanted the kids pizza to come out before ours as the Chicago Classic deep dish pizza would take 45 minutes to prepare. My wife said yes, and was thankful she asked, and she also said "this pizza takes 45 minutes!" And I paused thinking she was thinking that was a negative thing, but she then said "man that's awesome it must be really good". The Calamari arrived and had some fried lemons and a couple other items to dress it up and it was delicious. Our pizza arrived, looking like a piece of art. We ate and loved it, the kids even ate the Calamari and they all liked it, one of them even liked it and ate more after we told them what it actually was! We would definitely visit here again the next time we are in...

My family was having a rough weekend and I was in town visiting. Last night was going to be our going away dinner celebration for me, our last family event for a while. My mom asked what I wanted and I said Giordano's deep dish. I ordered the pizza online at 5:17pm to have it ready for pickup by 7pm.

I was in the middle of cooking when it was almost 7pm so I paused and rushed to the restaurant to be there by 7pm. I got there, and they said it wasn't ready yet and to wait a few more minutes. 20 minutes later they told me they didn't know what happened to my pizza. They had my order but no pizza. They offered to give me a credit or to have another one remade and delivered to me within an hour. I was beyond shocked- how does someone just lose a deep dish pizza?! What a freaking waste of my time- 1.5 hours of my life I will never get back. And what a shame to ruin my going away celebration dinner. I didn't want to have it delivered because that was an extra hour and I was just upset. I went home empty handed and my family was upset. I asked for a refund and they were unable to provide me proof that it was refunded- instead they just wrote "voided" in permanent marker on the receipt.

Overall miserable experience. Didn't even offer any type of compensation for wasting my time or ruining my family...
